Movistar KOI had previously hinted at it, and it is now official. Team captain Javier “Elyoya” Prades is set to renew his contract with the Spanish organization through 2027, with an additional one-year extension clause tied to the achievement of specific objectives, sources told Sheep Esports last Monday. A central figure of the team since joining MAD Lions in 2021—before their merger and rebranding—he was already under contract until 2026 and has now extended it for one additional year, following in the footsteps of
Tomás "Melzhet" Campelos, who renewed a week ago as first reported by
Sheep Esports.
With an exceptional track record, he has been one of the very best European junglers since his arrival. With four LEC titles, three MSI appearances, and six Worlds qualifications, he has been one of the main driving forces behind his teams’ success. As the Spanish flagbearer within the league, he will continue to be in 2026 and beyond the face of the team, which—as
Ibai Llanos and Sergio "
SergioFFerra" Salcedo
mentioned during their Twitch stream in the offseason—aims to secure Elyoya, as well as Joseph "
Jojopyun" Pyun and Álvaro "
Alvaro" Fernández del Amo, on long-term deals.
Building around their captain
The Spanish jungler has been the backbone of the roster since his debut, orchestrating every iteration of the team with his leadership and game sense. The entire roster has been constructed around him — by him, for him, and with him — reflecting his influence both inside and outside the game. Which is also why he is the first player being re-signed among them all.
As both he and Melzhet have already re-signed for the next two and three years respectively, it’s clear the team is first securing its two cornerstones. Since Melzhet took charge of the roster, his vision and the nearly all-Spanish lineup have worked wonders in the LEC. With one LEC title already under their belt this year, they have firmly established themselves as the league’s second-best team—and still see room for growth.
In the same vein, Ibai and SergioFFerra mentioned during their Twitch stream that David “Supa” Garcia and Alex “Myrwn” Villarejo, who are both currently signed through 2026, are not yet in talks for an extension. Unlike their three teammates, their future renewals will fully depend on their motivation and performance throughout the 2026 season.
Following this approach, the club is also making changes to its coaching staff for 2026. Bjørn-Vegar "
Hansen" Hansen and Quentin “
Zeph” Viguié are leaving the team and will be replaced by Barney “
Alphari” Morris and Eric “
Independent” Ruiz Bogurina, Zeph has since joined Karmine Corp as an assistant coach.
