Speaking on stream after the end of the LEC Versus regular season,
Los Ratones toplaner Simon "
Baus" Hofverberg confirmed that he will no longer compete professionally: "
I was just gonna try it out for one year and then be done with it. That's why I'm so sad that we lost, because I feel like I had a little bit more in me. For me personally, I'm not playing pro anymore."
He also stated that he couldn’t speak about the rest of the team or what their plans might be. On the other hand, European support legend Martin "
Rekkles" Larsson said on the official broadcast, “
Los Ratones might be the last thing I ever do.” Other players, such as Tim "
Nemesis" Lipovšek and Juš "
Crownie" Marušič, have said they have not yet made a decision about their future.
No ERL in 2026 for Los Ratones
In early November, the organization’s CEO and assistant coach,
Marc Robert "Caedrel" Lamont, stated, “
Some people asking about it: Will you be in NLC next year? No.” A few weeks later, he confirmed that the team
will not compete in any ERL at all, as some had speculated about a potential move to the LFL or another regional league.
The team had a turbulent split in LEC Versus, starting off on a rough note with four consecutive losses and facing multiple issues, notably the fact that no LEC team was willing to scrim them. They eventually bounced back, securing four straight wins, including victories over G2 Esports and Movistar KOI.
However, in their final three games, they managed to win only one, leaving their playoff qualification dependent on a potential win from Karmine Corp, who were first in the standings, against Team Heretics, a team that had struggled at the start of the split but closed it out with four consecutive victories.
LR therefore failed to qualify for the playoffs on a final day
whose scenarios initially seemed to be in their favor. The end of the split would also mark the end of Los Ratones in 2026, raising questions about league formats and about the organization’s impact on viewership wherever it competes.
