A few days ago,
Trent "trent" Cairns and Jacob "valyn" Batio already extended their contracts as previously reported by
Sheep Esports. G2 also extended the contract of leaf, but won’t be able to keep their full roster from last season. With Alexander "
jawgemo" Mor already under contract, only one change will occur in the team of five that won the three VCT Americas titles this year.
While it wasn’t surprising to see G2 trying to keep their roster after the exceptional season the team had, JonahP eventually parted ways with the organization. With the addition of Jawgemo at the beginning of the year, the team took a step forward and quickly established itself as one of the best of the year. Victory at Kickoff then finalist at Masters Bangkok.
Winner of Stage 1 and Stage 2 of VCT Americas, G2 shone throughout the year in their region, coming close to winning their first international trophy but always falling short in the final stretch.
Leaf and JonahP have both contributed to G2's success since their arrival. Members of the roster since the beginning of 2024, just like Trent and Valyn, their progress since their debut is worth noting. Former duelist converted into a sentinel, Leaf shone at certain moments of the season
despite some health issues that kept him away from the team during Esports World Cup and the beginning of VCT Americas Stage 2. JonahP also excelled at some times of the year, mainly on initiators.
The G2 lineup should therefore know one change for the next season. Another remaining question is that of the coach. Present since 2024 like the majority of his squad, Josh "JoshRT" Lee was also at the end of his contract at the end of this season. His contract has not been extended yet while G2 will also look for a replacement of JonahP.
