Team Heretics will retain several pieces of its current
VALORANT roster for the next chapter of its campaign. The core of the lineup that has been competing together for several years now is expected to preserve at least part of its identity. According to sources close to
Sheep Esports, Benjy "
benjyfishy" Fish will extend his contract with the team for the next two years.
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, benjyfishy was among the players several organizations had identified as a potential target for next year, meaning the transfer market could have become particularly active around him.
Only Martynas "
koshmaras" Namikas is currently under contract through 2028, according to the
VALORANT contract database. With VCT partner slots set to be renewed soon, Team Heretics are reaffirming their ambition to remain at the highest level of the region while maintaining the core that has represented the organization in recent years.
Three years of ups and downs
Benjyfishy's career is one of the more unconventional stories in the
VALORANT scene. Like many other players, he had already established himself in another game before beginning his
VALORANT career, having made a name for himself on Fortnite, where he was among the highest-earning players over his three years of competition. He then moved to
VALORANT in 2022 before joining the
VCT EMEA scene at the end of the following year with Team Heretics for the Last Chance Qualifier. At the time, the Spanish organization was still considered one of the weaker teams in the league, with underwhelming results, but that status would change the following year.
Team Heretics' 2024 season will likely be remembered as one of the best campaigns from a team that failed to win a title. The Spanish side reached the final of VCT EMEA Kickoff, Stage 1, Masters Shanghai and Champions, only to fall short on each occasion. Despite those repeated disappointments, benjyfishy was still named VCT EMEA Sentinel of the Year. Team Heretics had also won the VALORANT tournament at the Esports World Cup in 2025, defeating Fnatic in the Grand Final.
This year, the team finally secured its first VCT title by winning Stage 1. Paradoxically, that title came during the season in which Team Heretics have struggled the most, both at Kickoff and throughout Stage 2. This re-signing comes just hours after the Spanish club was eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt in the play-in, having finished the final stage in 11th or 12th place.
