Some players are capable of maintaining perfect composure during an LCK final or in tightly contested Worlds matches, yet it happens that they still lose their temper in a solo queue game. Such was the case for Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk, who was sanctioned twice last season for inappropriate behavior in ranked games.
The Gen.G Esports AD Carry will have to pay a fine of 800,000 KRW, roughly equivalent to €465. Riot Games imposed the penalty after reviewing his account and discovering that Ruler had received a second in-game chat restriction in October 2025.
Shortly before the start of the LCK Cup, Riot Games conducted a review of professional players’ accounts to ensure everything was in order. Following this inspection, they released a
statement on January 9 announcing that Ruler would be fined for misconduct in ranked play.
Ruler had already been warned by the LCK earlier last year after being punished for the same reasons on March 18, when he received a one-week ban from chat and ranked queue for verbal abuse. According to the most recent LCK review, he was handed another seven-day chat restriction on October 2 for further misconduct, a period that coincided with the end of the LCK season and just weeks before the start of Worlds.
A relatively light sanction
Riot Games also reminded that, under league regulations, this type of offense could have resulted in a fine of up to 1,000,000 KRW or a suspension of up to three matches. Should Ruler repeat this behavior, the penalty could triple and extend to as many as ten match suspensions in the LCK or LCK CL. This decision will likely be sufficient motivation for Gen.G’s AD Carry to avoid making the same mistake again.
