Across the history of competitive
League of Legends, nine players have achieved double-digit pentakills; all of them are botlaners. The first non-botlane player on the list is the illustrious Rasmus “
" Winther.
’ superstar has scored nine pentakills during his professional career with eight distinct champions. To put this gigantic accomplishment into perspective, the second midlaner off the list is
's Heo “
" Su with six.
According to the
popular fashion magazine Cosmopolitan, in numerology the number 9 represents the moment before starting anew after a fulfilled cycle and signifies a person who has lived and learned. Before the start of a new cycle, from his beginnings as a well-known toxic teenage prodigy with incredible mechanics to being the only Western player to feature in all three Riot-sanctioned international finals, let’s take an insightful deep dive into the Hall of Legends' newest inductee’s pentakills.
1) All eyes on me.
Nerv versus Millenium @ EU Challenger Series 2016 Summer 28/06/16
Can you picture the scene? It’s your second year playing professional League of Legends. You’re playing the second series of your debut season in the EU Challenger Series, Europe’s Tier 2 league, for an organization that bought the slot of one of the most historic European teams of that time. The pressure is on; you’ve replaced a historic player who participated in the first-ever EU LCS Split. This was Caps’ twenty-first game of his career; his team was dead last, winless, and faced the second-placed team. In his second game with Aurelion Sol and the pressure on his back, Caps did this:
2) International statement!
G2 Esports versus SKT T1 @ MSI 2019 Semifinals 18/05/19
Things have drastically changed for Caps. The midlaner is now a three-time EU LCS Champion and played at the 2018 World Championship Finals. However, in 2019, G2 Esports shook the scene by signing him as their brand-new superstar midlaner. The Dane finds himself at Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei, Taiwan, facing a resurging monster: SKT T1. A great first step the Korean Giant can take to turn the page after a disastrous 2018 season is reaching the Mid-Season Invitational Finals. EU's hope is down 0-1 in the semifinals' best-of-five series, and Caps closes Game 2 with this memorable play, on his way to his first — and only — international trophy:
3) Penta as… an ADC?!
G2 Esports vs Origen @ LEC Spring Playoffs 2020 12/04/20
An unknown and unpredictable virus running rampant across Europe pushed the 2020 LEC Spring Season to be played online, yet the
League of Legends Esports scene has gone mad too. Caps... is playing botlane? The Dane remained sane and showed his kindness by sharing the midlane with Luka “
” Perković, G2's former midlaner. However, the team faltered against suddenly surging rookies,
MAD Lions, and doubts rose around G2. Against an
Origen team looking to play spoiler during the playoffs Losers Semifinals, G2 and Caps set the tone for the series as the... botlaner... untangled a close Game 1:
4) Unofficial Hexakill
G2 Esports vs Team BDS @ LEC Summer Groups 2023 17/07/23
The Ship of Theseus is a philosophical paradox that questions identity. If all of G2's components have been replaced, is it still the same team that once reached the promised land? This somewhat pretentious analysis could appropriately describe the team's 2023 approach. Three roster changes, including long-tenured jungler Marcin “
” Jankowski leaving and superstar support Mihael “
” Mehle returning, set the environment for a rebuilding roster. Caps, the steady boat's keel, remained as competitive as ever. An unofficial Hexakill thanks to his new teammates, back in the midlane yet playing an AD Carry, Caps did this to qualify for the Summer playoffs:
5) Another one?!
G2 Esports vs Team BDS @ LEC Spring Playoffs 2024 07/04/24
It's been eight years since the Dane got his first-ever pentakill with Aurelion Sol during his time at the EU Championship Series. However, G2 hasn't been respected on the international stage, recently eliminated by NA's
at 2023 Worlds.
Team BDS were eager to carry this disrespect into the LEC, beat G2, and return to another final. Fresh off a massive gameplay update, Caps proved that his mastery of the celestial dragon really forged stars, as he kept the status quo, secured his second pentakill against Team BDS, and his second pentakill with Aurelion Sol with this play:
6) The bitter rival can’t keep up
G2 Esports vs Fnatic @ LEC Spring Playoffs 2024 14/04/24
It's been 2045 days since
won a league championship. Caps was their starting mid aner, and progressed from an up-and-coming talent into an established superstar the last time they won an LEC championship. Hell, the league was still called the European League Championship Series. Caps has lifted nine LEC championships, four against Fnatic, since then. However, in the 2024 Spring Playoff Finals, Fnatic was 1-0 up in the series. They had the kill lead in Game 2 and were pushing G2 to its limit! Caps started the comeback by silencing the Fnatic faithful again with this stylish play:
7) The herald of EU!
G2 Esports vs SK Gaming @ LEC Winter Split 20/01/25
G2 Esports have an uncontested monopoly on the LEC. The accolades speak for themselves; they've won each of the last five championships and tally sixteen titles total. Yet, the incapability to overcome their woes at international events haunts them, so much so that management approved two roster changes. Could representing the winningest organization in European history influence the team to start the 2025 Winter Split on the wrong foot? Unfortunately for SK Gaming, Caps had a deathless, ten-kill game to prevent an 0-3 start with this game-winning performance:
8) What should I title this?
G2 Esports vs SK Gaming @ LEC Spring Split 18/04/26
After a long and eventful odyssey, we're finally tackling Caps' 2026 pentakills. G2 Esports have broken their international curse by qualifying for the 2025 Worlds knockout stage and recently
returned to an international final when they played 2026's First Stand. Spirits are high, and the momentum rides with the current LEC champions, right? Wait... why did this split start with
Fnatic breaking a three-match loss streak against G2? Could the ship be veering from its course? Worry not, G2 aficionados, Captain Europe rises to the occasion! Aiming to bring the team back to even, Caps executes this flawless teamfight against
:
9) China? No problem.
G2 Esports vs Top Esports @ Mid-Season Invitational 03/07/26
We've addressed Caps' masterful pentakill while piloting The Emperor of the Sands. However, the pentakill he scored with Ahri at the 2026 MSI was nothing short of a fairy tale. The first round paired G2 Esports with
, the same team the European team bested 777 days ago,
the last time EU beat an LPL squad. TES came out full throttle, convincingly winning the first two games of the series. Off the back of a stupendous carry performance, G2 laid the foundation for the reverse sweep. Welcome to a moment recorded in history:
