Caps Becomes the Hall of Legends’ Third Inductee, First from the West

Rasmus “” Winther has been officially named the third inductee into the League of Legends Hall of Legends, becoming the first Western player to receive the honor. The Danish midlaner will be celebrated at an official trophy ceremony in Berlin on August 18, ahead of a dedicated in-game event launching September 10 with patch 26.18, complete with a career-spanning event pass and exclusive cosmetics.

After Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in 2024 and Jian “Uzi” Zi-hao in 2025, Europe finally claims its place in the Hall of Legends, two years after the program’s launch. As a reminder, Riot nominated Caps after regional staff put him forward as one of around 20 eligible players, and an independent 50-person panel of esports veterans then voted him into the Hall of Legends based on criteria including international berths, titles, role-specific stats and overall contributions to the sport.

Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports, praised the Dane’s induction: “Caps has always been the kind of player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare ‘it’ factor, the ability to elevate his play in the biggest moments through his game sense, leadership and composure under pressure. Caps has inspired an entire generation of Western players and earned the respect of fans around the world. He is not only one of the greatest players in League of Legends history; he embodies everything we hope to see in our esport heroes.”

From his meteoric rise as a rookie to his status as the most decorated player in European history, Caps has consistently proven he can compete with the best in the world while maintaining his own distinct style. As both a reliable teammate and a creative force on the Rift, he has inspired those around him to play boldly and push the boundaries of what is possible. Off the server, his warmth, humility and team-first mindset have made him a beloved figure among teammates and fans alike.

Born on November 17, 1999, Caps began his professional career in smaller organizations before joining Fnatic in 2017, where he immediately established himself as a prodigy. It was with that he reached the 2018 World Championship final, falling to Invictus Gaming but cementing his reputation as the best midlaner in the West.

In November 2018, his move to marked the start of the most dominant period of his career. He won the LEC Spring 2019 title in his first split with the team, followed by LEC Summer 2019, and captured the biggest trophy of his résumé: the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, where he was also named finals MVP. That same year, he reached his second Worlds final in a row, this time falling to FunPlus Phoenix in Paris. Since then, Caps has continued to accumulate trophies, setting the record for most LEC titles won by a single player and the most finals MVP awards in the European championship.

Riot is planning a celebration package befitting Caps’ legacy, following the model used for Faker and Uzi:

According to the X account @LeagueOfLeaks and multiple leaks from the PBE in recent days, the flagship skin of the event will honor Tristana, who is set to receive an “Immortalized Legend” skin tied to Caps. As with previous inductions, Caps and his former and current teams will receive a share of revenue generated from the event pass and bundle sales.

Riot has also announced that the official Hall of Legends website will be updated with more details on Caps starting August 24.
