Korean streaming platform
CHZZK is set to host an upcoming tournament titled
LoL Legends Match. Three teams will compete in the event, including two rosters made up of Korean current and former professional players:
Team CHZZK and
Team LCK Legends. The third lineup, named
EU Legends, will feature former players who competed in the LEC.
Several well-known figures from both the European and Korean
League of Legends scenes are expected to participate. The European squad will notably feature former Fnatic toplaner Heo “
Huni” Seung-hoon. Also representing the team will be two other former Black and Orange players, Martin “
Rekkles” Larsson and Tim “
Nemesis” Lipovšek, both of whom most recently played for
Los Ratones. They will be joined by two former G2 Esports player: jungler Marcin “
Jankos” Jankowski, who has recently appeared on the LCK broadcast, as well as support and current G2 content creator Kim “
Wadid” Bae-in.
Big names in the competition
The Korean teams, however, will be equally stacked with recognizable names. Team CHZZK will feature four former World Champions, including Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin and Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong, who won the 2017 World Championship with Samsung Galaxy, alongside legendary SKT T1 AD Carry Bae “Bang” Jun-sik and support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee. Team LCK Legends also boasts a number of notable names, including former stars such as Heo “PawN” Won-seok and Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan.
For those unfamiliar with CHZZK, the platform can be compared to Twitch in Europe. Owned by Naver, it also serves as the naming partner of the LoL Park, the venue that hosts LCK matches. The tournament will take place over two days, from June 9 to June 10.
As for the format, the three teams will first compete in a double round-robin best-of-one stage on the opening day. The team that finishes first in the standings will advance directly to the grand final, while the remaining two teams will face off the following day for the second spot in the final, which will be played immediately afterward. The tournament will be broadcast on the CHZZK Gaming Channel, although watch parties and co-streams will also be permitted.
