The first edition of the
Americas Cup has come to an end, and the Circuito Brazilian
League of Legends (
CBLOL)’s own
sent a message to the rest of the American continent: we are superior. The Brazilian Fury won eight games in a row across three series and dismantled the
League of Legends Championship Series (
LCS)’s runner-up
by delivering the North American team a 3-0 Grand Finals defeat.
FURIA showcased superior mechanics, team fighting, a defined playstyle, and perseverance, which led them to outplay C9 in early, mid, and late game. The series was defined by the jungle matchup, where 19-year-old sensation
was a step in front of
throughout the Grand Final. This result guarantees
the Brazilian team will receive a paid bootcamp by Riot Games in South Korea at the same time as the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational is played.
Six Game Winning Streak
This FURIA roster has proven to have Cloud9’s number down to the area code, having beaten the North American team six times in three different formats. The current iteration of the Brazilian Fury’s roster came together at the beginning of the 2025 season, where they won LTA South Split 2 and qualified for the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational and the Esports World Cup. It was at the latter tournament where the Brazilians won a Bo1 win-or-go-home match and got their first win over C9.
The North American team would have to wait 236 days before having the chance to take revenge against the Brazilian team after their EWC loss. In front of their home crowd, FURIA kept their undefeated streak against C9 by beating them in their Americas Cup debut series 2-0 and sending them to the Loser’s Bracket.
Tournament recap
The Americas Cup started just three days after the LCS Finals concluded, so the participating Cloud9 and Sentinels had to fly to São Paulo immediately. Jetlag was seen as a key factor affecting C9 after FURIA sent them to the Loser’s Bracket, but then
defeated
2-0. No matter who FURIA faced, they would dominate games or keep crawling their way back from impossible deficits. Though messier, FURIA kept their unbeaten run going after winning their series 3-0.
Cloud9 kept their struggles by edging RED Canids 3-2, setting up an LCS Lock-In Upper Bracket Finals rematch between the North American teams for a chance to rematch against the impressive FURIA. Cloud9 would win the interregional encounter 3-1 before extending their loss streak against the Brazilian team. After the dominant gameplay shown by the winners, fans questioned why Brazil has only one slot at the 2026 World Championship. The tournament was a massive success, and we hope the 2027 edition delivers equally interesting narratives.
What does the future hold?
FURIA had been considered a team that could challenge Eastern teams since 2025, but they were not able to face such competition. With their Americas Cup victory, the Brazilian Fury will look to repeat their Spring victory when the CBLOL Split 1 restarts and hopefully attend more international events.
Brazil won this chapter of its budding rivalry against North America, but the next encounter is just around the corner.
will face
in a
Bo5 at their First Stand debut on March 17th. The CBLOL champions will look to take a page from FURIA’s playbook and rally behind their hometown fans to defeat the LCS champions.
