A major chapter in the history of GIANTX on
VALORANT has come to a close. After four years with the Spanish team, Adolfo “
Fit1nho” Gallego is leaving to join
Barça eSports for the next
VCL Spain season, according to Sheep Esports sources. The Flex Player previously competed in the Spanish league in 2022, when the organization was still known as Giants, before merging with Excel.
Over the past two years, Fit1nho has played in the VCT EMEA, Riot Games' regional FPS elite. Despite a challenging 2023 season, GIANTX secured a spot at Champions by winning the Last Chance Qualifier, giving Fit1nho the chance to participate in his first international event. However, GX did not make it past the group stage and were eliminated before the playoffs.
In contrast, 2024 proved disastrous for the team. GIANTX lost both of their games at the Kick-Off event and failed to secure playoffs in either of the season's two Stages, resulting in two group-stage eliminations with a total record of four wins and eleven losses. Following this disappointing performance, Fit1nho was released from the roster in September. Now, he aims to make a comeback at the next level down with a Barça eSports team that is riding a strong wave of momentum.
The Catalan club claimed victory in Split 2 of VCL Spain 2024 and is now set to reshape its roster. Fit1nho joins as their latest offseason recruit, alongside
Tomás “Vorwenn” Baldrich, Daniel “Saiz” Ruiz,
Christian “lowel” Antora, and Kacper “krejzzs” Furtak. To complete the lineup, GX had also reportedly considered Kacper “Katu” Twórz, according to Sheep Esports sources.
