More and more
League of Legends teams for the upcoming
Esports Nations Cup (ENC) are slowly being unveiled, and today Sheep Esports can exclusively confirm the
Czech Republic’s League of Legends lineup. The Czech roster will feature:
- Toplane: Petr "" Fojtík
- Jungle: Tomáš “” Kyselák
- Midlane: Marek “” Brázda
- AD Carry: Matyáš “” Orság
- Support: Adam “” Jeřábek
AD Carry Patrik "
" Jírů (
BIG) and Midlaner Šimon "
" Řiháček (
Galions) will be the two substitutes for the lineup. The team will be coached by former LCS Head Coach Aleš “
Freeze” Kněžínek, whose appointment had already been announced together with the
names of other ENC League coaches.
Jackies is role-swapping (temporarily)
The Czech lineup features some of the biggest names currently competing in the LEC alongside few familiar faces of the ERL scene. LEC fans can easily recognize Humanoid, Carzzy, and Jackies as they are currently competing for Team Vitality and GIANTX respectively. With Humanoid as starter in the midlane, Jackies will fill in the support position, despite being a midlaner in the LEC.
The Esports Nation’s Cup won’t be Jackies’ first tournament as a support. In fact, the Czech player already competed last offseason as support in a Czech national tournament, and won.
Czechia’s roster evaluation could see them skip the qualifiers
While two of their players competing in Tier 2 will be starting on the roster, the cumulative points those players bring could prove significant in determining whether the team receives a direct invite to the main event in Riyadh this November, potentially allowing them to skip the June qualifiers entirely.
Toplane Bobista, winner of the NLC Winter Split (300 points), and Jungler Twight, finalist of the Czech ERL with BRUTE (200 points), currently contribute more points to the roster than their LEC teammates, whose totals will depend on their final standing in the LEC Spring Split. To put that in perspective, finishing 5th–6th in a single LEC split earns a player fewer points than winning any of the regional ERLs.
According to
Liquipedia's standings, Czechia is closing in on a direct spot at the Esports Nations Cup, teams need to rank among the top 16 submitted rosters to bypass the qualifiers.
What is the ENC?
The ENC is an international esports competition built around national teams that see players represent their countries rather than an organization, thus creating a format similar to traditional international sporting events.
League of Legends is expected to be one of the headline titles featured at ENC, alongside several other major esports titles. Over recent weeks, more and more national rosters have started to emerge as countries finalize their lineups ahead of the competition with more and more players from the LECparticipating. However not everyone is excitedly waiting for ENC to start.
ENC has already faced scrutiny due to its connections with Saudi Arabia’s broader esports investments. The tournament is part of an esports ecosystem backed by Saudi public funding, which is often tied to
accusations of “sportswashing,” the act of attempting at improving a country’s public image through sport and esports events.
All rosters for the Esports Nations Cup are expected to be announced by the same deadline, ahead of the June qualifiers. In the meantime, Sheep Esports will keep you updated on any roster changes and other national team news. You can check all our reported rosters in the
