Two players achieved the exceptional feat of securing not one, but two pentakills in a single game within the span of just two days. On Saturday night against
Team Vitality, Yoon "
Ice" Sang-hoon recorded two pentakills to swing the match in favor of
Team Heretics, while on Sunday, Trần "
Artemis" Quốc accomplished the same in his team’s victory over
DetonatioN FocusMe — and even added a third across the best-of-three series.
These performances are all the more remarkable as they stand as the only recorded instances of double pentakills within major regions. Similar feats had previously occurred only in Tier 1 leagues outside the major regions, notably in the LLA in 2024 with Brian "Snaker" Distefano and in the TCL in 2021 with Anıl "HolyPhoenix" Işık.
Ice secured the eighth and ninth pentakills of his career in a game that initially appeared difficult.
The new Heretics AD carry, playing Aphelios, struggled alongside his team against Team Vitality before delivering a decisive Baron Nashor fight that turned the game in favor of the Spanish organization, with crucial support from Paul "
Stend" Lardin. Less than five minutes later, he added a second pentakill to close out the game in spectacular fashion. These marked Ice’s fourth and fifth pentakills since joining the
LEC.
Historical Tier 1 performance
Although the match between GAM Esports and DFM was less closely contested, that did not prevent Artemis from replicating the same achievement in LCP. As GAM approached the Mountain Soul, they initiated a teamfight that allowed their AD Carry’s Sivir to dominate, securing his first pentakill with the team. Barely two minutes later, he repeated the feat during the final push to win the opening game, finishing with an 18/0/7 scoreline.
Unsatisfied, Artemis went on to claim a third pentakill, this time on Jhin, to close out the second game and secure a 2-0 victory for his squad. He thus became only the second player in history, but the only one in Tier 1, to record three pentakills within a single series, the first being William "UNF0RGIVEN" Nieminen with SK Gaming Prime in 2021.
