This Tuesday, the
League of Legends Esports Arabia’s X account announced the withdrawal of a historic organization from the Arabian League, Geekay Esports, and its replacement by 3BL Esports. A huge blow to an already fragile ecosystem, as the league loses one of its pillars. Having joined in 2021, Geekay won
five Arabian League splits,
two Intel Arabian Cups, and reached the
EMEA Masters quarterfinals twice.
For their part, 3BL will be making their return to the Arabian League after two seasons in the second division. The Egyptian team could have regained its place in the championship at the end of the previous year, but only finished fourth in the promotion tournament
A fragile ecosystem
When asked by
Sheep Esports about their departure,
Geekay explained that after careful consideration, they decided to focus on investments that make more sense for the organization’s future. They also mentioned that a formal statement will be released soon to provide more details and address the situation.
They aren’t the only team missing from the 2026 season, as the Moroccan team Fox Gaming is also out
due to failing to meet critical financial obligations regarding player payments. They will be replaced by the Egyptian team NextGeneration, who recently failed to qualify for the First Division through the promotion tournament.
A Legendary Organization in the Region
Geekay thus exits the scene after five years at the top of the MENA region. Arriving at the end of 2021, they won the IAC Grand Finals that year as well as in 2022. With the creation of the Arabian League in 2023, they were part of the inaugural season, winning the Spring Split and qualifying for the first EMEA Masters in their history.
It was also at this time that Ahmad "Giyuu" Charif joined the team—a legend not only for Geekay but for the region, the most decorated player in its history with five trophies. The team went on to win the Summer Split in 2024 as well as all three splits in 2025, giving them a record of five split victories out of seven.
They also participated in the EMEA Masters six times, with three notable performances: two quarterfinals in Winter and Summer 2025, and, most importantly, a semifinals appearance in Spring 2024, where they lost to the eventual champions, Eintracht Spandau. That split was a true revelation—not only for Geekay and their players but also for the Arabian League, which many had not yet recognized on the EMEA stage.
Recognized Players
Several players from the region who passed through Geekay also gained significant exposure. The 19-year-old Egyptian toplaner Mohamed "
Boda" Yahia is a four-time Arabian League champion, three of those titles with GK, and recently joined BK ROG Esports in the LFL. The same goes for Waleed "
Dekap" Mohammed Ismail, the Jordanian support, who also won four AL splits before joining Vitality.Bee in the LFL.
Other big names have also represented the Saudi organization. Giyuu is often regarded as the best player in the region’s history, while Taha "Elramir" Yurdagüven is also one of the team and league’s key faces. Recently, they were led by Aymerick "Hairost" Sergeant, former coach of Galions and Solary in the LFL.
