ENVY's first year in
VCT Americas has been a turbulent one, with the roster undergoing constant changes. Following a disappointing result in Stage 1, the team is preparing to make another adjustment ahead of Stage 2. According to sources close to
Sheep Esports, Conner “
GLYPH” Garcia, who was recently moved to the bench by
Gentle Mates, is set to join ENVY and replace Matteo “
P0PPIN” Weber.
Despite receiving interest from a few
VCT EMEA teams, GLYPH has ultimately decided to return to the region where his career began, this time competing at the highest level. On the other hand, P0PPIN, who has been part of the roster since last year and played a key role in qualifying the organization for the VCT, will be moved to the bench.
At the beginning of the season, ENVY showed promising signs during Kickoff before being eliminated relatively early from the competition. After Maximilian “Demon1” Mazanov joined the roster for the remainder of the season, the team managed to secure two victories in the Group Stage but ultimately fell short of reaching the playoffs. While questions remained over whether further changes would be made to the lineup, it is the team's In-Game Leader and Initiator who is set to pay the price. Following this move, Evan “Eggsterr” Grady will be the only remaining player from the former VCL roster that won Ascension still representing ENVY this year.
On the other side, GLYPH crossed the Atlantic at the start of the year to join Gentle Mates and make his VCT debut. Place on a Controller role, he was part of a team that enjoyed an excellent start to the season, even leading M8 to qualification for Masters Santiago. However, the team encountered several limitations during Stage 1 and, despite securing a spot at the Esports World Cup, decided to replace GLYPH with Yusuf Emre “Proxh” Tunc. He will therefore receive another opportunity to showcase his talent in the VCT, although the challenge awaiting him with ENVY is expected to be a difficult one.
