League of Legends Classic is re-introducing a way for the community to shape the game's future, though this time through Council Voting. Instead of Riot Games making every content decision internally, players will have the opportunity to vote on feature additions, including which champions will be added to the
League Classic roster.
What's the Council Voting
Council Voting is a community-driven feature that allows League of Legends Classic players to influence future content updates. During designated voting periods, players will be presented with several options for upcoming features to the game mode, and the most popular choices will be added to League Classic in future patches.
According to Riot, the goal is to let the community decide which Classic content should return first. For example, at launch, League Classic features a roster of 60 champions, but additional ones are planned to arrive through regular patch updates. However, Riot has also confirmed that newer champions — like Locke — are not currently planned for League Classic.
What will players be asked to vote on?
Players won't just be choosing between champions; Riot has confirmed that Council Voting will cover multiple categories of content, including champions skins, gameplay features, and other additions planned for future updates.
This approach gives the community more control over the direction of the game, ensuring that the content added over time reflects what players want to see most. Riot has not shared more details on the matter, but we'll update the article as information comes out.
When players will be allowed to vote
The first Council Voting event for League Classic will begin on August 26th, a second voting round is already scheduled for September 23rd. And according to the current roadmap, players can also expect several major content drops between these voting periods.
The game launches with 60 champions, the Classic Summoner's Rift map, the Act 1 Pass, and the Seasonal Summoner's Journey on July 29th. Three additional champions arrive on August 12th, while more runes are added alongside the first Council Voting on August 26th. Another batch of champions is planned for September 9th, followed by the second Council Voting on September 23rd, before the Act 2 Pass launches on October 7th.
