After more than three years in the
League of Legends Championship Series (
LCS), AD Carry
is now a North American resident, according to the April 2, 2026 update to the
League of Legends Global Contract Database. As
confirmed by the Korean player himself on X
(formerly known as Twitter),
’s botlaner has finally gotten his hands on a “green card,” also referred to as a permanent resident card.
As per Riot’s
LoL Esports Global Policies, acquiring this card allowed Berserker to instantly apply for residency status, locking him in as a North American resident for at least the next twenty-four months. However, he could still eventually decide to return to Korea and once again count as an import player. In 2023, jungler
underwent the same process and has held North American residency for the past twenty-nine months.
Most importantly, this move allows the Korean player to free up an import slot for LYON, which now has only one non-resident player remaining: midlaner
. While nothing has been confirmed yet, making this change mid-year could indicate that LYON is looking to bring in new imports before the end of 2026, potentially replacing some of its current residents—namely toplaner
or support
.
No changes… for now?
A move that could signal future roster changes in the league, Berserker’s new status contrasts sharply with the reality of the LCS Spring Split: for
the first time in thirteen years, the league is entering a season without a single roster change among its participants. Nevertheless, this remains largely unsurprising, as the Winter Split is the shortest and least impactful of the year. As a result, LYON will continue with its intended five-man lineup for the time being.
Still, the transition between Spring and Summer often sees many teams look very different, particularly depending on their results in the aforementioned splits, as they attempt to make a push for
Worlds. With this in mind, it is likely that LYON may consider its options after Spring if the team fails to meet its goals—namely
defending its LCS title and delivering a stronger performance at the
Mid-Season Invitational than it did at
First Stand.
Berserker’s Career Path
Berserker's career began in his native Korea within T1's Academy system, where he played for a year and a half. His most successful stint was with Cloud9, who signed him from T1 Challengers before the start of Spring 2022. The botlaner spent three years with C9, where he won two LCS Championships, Summer 2023 Most Valuable Player, and represented the organization at three international events.
For the 2025 season, Berserker returned to Korea to debut in the LCK with DN Freecs. The Freecs had a disappointing season, cruising to only 21 wins across three splits before mutually parting ways at the end of the LCK 2025 Rounds 3-5. The Korean seems to thrive in North America, as he returned for the 2026 season. He added another LCS Championship to his trophy cabinet with LYON.
