Team WE are one of those LPL teams that aren’t at the top but can still cause trouble and challenge the leaders. Last year in Split 2, the team managed to reach fourth place in the playoffs, which significantly put them in the spotlight of the Chinese scene. Split 3 was a bit tougher, with a 9th–12th place finish, being eliminated by EDward Gaming.
The core of last year’s success came partly from their topside, which they decided to keep for 2026. Dai "Cube" Yi remains in the toplane, the team’s star player Wang "Monki" Meng-Qi is also retained in the jungle, and the Korean midlaner Kim "Karis" Hong-jo is still part of the roster.
The Newcomers
The change came in the botlane, with the departures of Kim "
Taeyoon" Tae-yoon, who joined Nongshim RedForce in the LCK, and Zhao "
Vampire" Zhe-Can, who moved to
JD Gaming. The team brought in Korean AD Carry Moon "
About" Hyeong-seok, paired with Chinese support Bi "
yaoyao" Hao-Tian.
As for the coaching staff, Jin "
JinJin" Guang-Hua was promoted to Head Coach, having been part of the team’s coaching staff for the third year now. He is joined by He "
694" Xin, a former support and academy coach who has been promoted to the main roster. They succeed Jiang "Teacherma" Chen, who has joined the coaching staff of
Anyone's Legend.
This New Roster
Cube is set to begin his fifth split with Team WE. Formerly with Vici Gaming, Rare Atom, and Oh My God, he had a stint with his current team in Summer 2023 before returning at the start of 2025. The second youngest player on the roster, Monki is likely the team’s cornerstone. A product of EDG’s academy, 2025 was his true first year in the LPL, and it’s safe to say he made it a successful one.
As for Karis, he will be entering his second year in China after spending a long time in Korea. Developed within the Gen.G Academy system, he then spent a year with Hanwha Life Esports followed by two years at OKSavingsBank BRION, where he alternated between the LCK and LCK CL. His first year in the LPL was mixed, an often difficult adaptation year, but the second could very well go much better.
On the AD carry side, this is the second Korean player on the roster to arrive, but it is not his first time in China. Developed at Shadow Corp in Korea , he joined Ultra Prime Academy in the LDL before returning to Korea with Gen.G Academy in the LCK CL. He will be paired with yaoyao, at 24 years old, he is the veteran of the roster, returning to the professional scene for the first time since 2023, when he played for ThunderTalk Gaming.
A Manageable Group
Team WE are in the Perseverance group alongside Ninjas in Pyjamas, EDG, and ThunderTalk. It is a group that seems well within their reach given the lineups involved. Finishing first in the group would secure them a direct spot in the upper bracket of the Play-Ins; last year, they managed to knock out teams
such as JDG and Top Esports.
