Esports World Cup, defeating their North American rivals Shopify Rebellion on Saturday in a closely contested BO7 that ended 4-3. Following the series, Jack “
reveal” LeDuc joined us for an interview to discuss the match, tomorrow’s semifinal against Ninjas in Pyjamas, representing Canada at the Esports Nations Cup, and the return of his teammate Zachary “
zach” Stone.
What did you think of the team's performance today?
Reveal: “Our performance was very good. We just held together and strove through to victory, even though we were down 3-1.
How did you manage to bounce back when you had your backs against the wall at 1-3 in the series?
Reveal: We honestly played better with pressure, so... And we're all very good friends outside the game, so we just fully trust each other.
Logan "Lj" Wilt told us yesterday that, before the draw, he wanted to play against you. Was he wrong to think that?
Reveal: No, honestly, it was a very close series. He could have won either way.
Shopify Rebellion won the previous two matches against you. How did you manage to win this one?
Reveal: It's just confidence in ourselves, so we were able to bounce back.
Talking about the win against Karmine Corp two days ago, did this win create something new within your team and with your teammates?
Reveal: Yes, we realized our full potential as a team, so now we're just going into every series playing confidently and trying to recreate what we did.
Do you consider it the biggest win of your career so far?
Reveal: Yeah, probably, since they're ranked number one in the world.
If you had to compare it with the win against Vitality during Kickoff last year, what's the difference?
Reveal: Karmine Corp is better because it’s in a more important tournament.
Tomorrow, you will face NiP in the semi-finals. What do you want to say to the NiP players?
Reveal: Hopefully it's a good series, and best of luck.
Going into the upcoming Worlds, do you feel stronger in 2v2 or 3v3?
Reveal: I feel the same in both game modes, since they translate into each other.
And if you had to pick only one to win, which one would it be?
Reveal: I want the 3v3 because it's more prestigious.
Talking about zach, what did he bring since his return?
Reveal: Nothing really. He's the same person. He always grinds, always in a good mood, so that really helps as a teammate.
And what makes you the best 2v2 duo in North America?
Reveal: We just fully trust each other, and we grind 2v2s all day.
Did you play a role in his return? Did you talk to him or convince him to come back?
Reveal: No, I didn't really talk to him about anything like that. It was more the coach,
Xpére (
André Filipe de Jesus Ruivinho Costa).
Xpére worked with Team Liquid, who were quite a young trio as well. You are a young trio too. How does his coaching help you?
Reveal: Xpére pushes us to do our best all the time, and he's like a normal sports coach. He doesn't baby us at all.
Do you think the fact that he knows how to manage young players helps a lot?
Reveal: Yeah, he definitely knows how to, since he did it with Team Liquid and now he's doing it with us.
What does it mean to you to have the opportunity to represent Canada at the ENC?
Reveal: I'm half Canadian, half American. I just got picked for Canada. I would play for either country. I'm just happy to be there.
You explained on X that the process was a bit messy. Can you tell me exactly what happened and how you dealt with it?
Reveal: Basically, insiders pick people within their own group and then give a fair process to others. So we really couldn't do anything about it since they run the whole thing.
And did you resolve it?
Reveal: Nah, we didn't come to a resolution with it.
As you said, you're half American as well. What would it mean for you to face the US at the ENC?
Reveal: Nothing really. Once you get into the game, you just try your best.
And what are Canada's chances, according to you?
Reveal: I'd say like 15%.
And to win the tournament?
Reveal: Oh, tournament? I'd say like 5 or 4%.”
