On December 29, 2025, Lastlap, the new organizer of the Spanish league,
opened applications to find three teams to take part in the Liga Española de
League of Legends (LES), the new version of the SuperLiga for the 2026 season. Five teams were already locked in, with
three spots still to be filled.
Sources tell Sheep Esports that one of those three spots have now been secured by LUA Gaming. The organization will therefore remain in the league and will compete alongside Barça eSports, Los Heretics, GIANTX iTero, Movistar KOI Fénix, and UCAM Esports.
With LUA confirmed, that brings the total to six teams, leaving two final slots to be determined. As of January 23, the league’s schedule and format have yet to be announced, while several Tier 1 and ERL competitions have already begun. In an AMA, Lastlap explained that, because of the rush of starting the league, they plan to organize a first quick format in mid-February.
A Streamlined League
For the 2026 season, the Spanish league has decided to reduce the number of teams from ten to eight, meaning lower costs, a simpler ecosystem to manage, and a more selective group of organizations. For now, all the locked teams have already played in the SuperLiga last year.
The previous league organizer,
LVP, had stopped running the competition, several candidates then stepped forward, including GGTech Entertainment, and LastLap, with the latter ultimately securing the rights mid november. Some of the major teams in the Spanish ERL supported LastLap, giving positive feedback and actively advocating for them to become the organizer.
LUA Gaming joined the scene in 2024 in the second division and immediately won the Spring Split, earning a spot in the SuperLiga for 2025. Their year in the top division was mixed, finishing seventh in Winter, fourth in Spring, and seventh again in Summer.
