The final outcome of the last day of the
LEC Versus regular season proved cruel for
Los Ratones, who saw their playoff qualification slip away on Sunday following their defeat to
Team Vitality and a chain of favorable results for their direct competitors. Marc "
Caedrel" Lamont’s squad ultimately finished in ninth place, narrowly missing out on qualification.
A few hours after what could potentially mark the end of the Los Ratones project — with
Caedrel having stated in November that the team would not compete in ERLs this season — players and staff members who had been involved since the beginning reacted publicly and thanked fans for their support throughout the journey.
Disappointed reactions
Among the roster, Simon "
Baus" Hofverberg expressed his disappointment after the final day of competition and said he would "
take some time for [him]self." The toplaner, known for his unconventional playstyle, had previously stated that he was not particularly fond of competitive play, making a return with another team unlikely. The same appears true for Martin "
Rekkles" Larsson,
who indicated that Los Ratones would probably be his final professional experience. The former AD Carry turned support also reacted the day after the match on X: "
Thanks Marc for making this whole thing happen, giving us a chance to fight for an honourable cause."
AD carry Juš "Crownie" Marušič also responded by thanking fans for their support throughout the experience. Having joined the team at the start of the split, Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi regretted his team’s poor start, which ultimately proved costly in the final playoff race.
Support across the other teams
Many figures across the scene also reacted, describing the scenario as particularly harsh for Los Ratones, who they felt deserved better — including Team Vitality head coach Patrick "Pad" Suckow-Breum and former jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski. This sentiment was echoed by some Fnatic players, who qualified at Los Ratones’ expense yet expressed regret at not seeing their rivals reach the playoffs as well.
Midlaner Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis wrote on X that "Los Ratones deserved the spot more than us," while Park "Lospa" Joon-hyeong apologized for his performance, stating that he was "actually a big fan of Los Ratones. I really wanted them to make playoffs, so I wanted to win today, but we performed really badly."
