Everything we know about Riftbound: Vendetta

Riot Games have revealed new details about the fourth expansion for the League of Legends Trading Card Game, Riftbound, called Vendetta. Vendetta is set to be released on July 31st, 2026, and will be focused on some of Runeterra's most iconic rivalries. It will introduce new collectible cards, deckbuilding options, Riftbound's first dedicated two-player product, and expand gameplay through the new rune combinations and rival-themed cards that could reshape the competitive and casual meta with new decks and strategies.

Vendetta’s core theme is rivalries across Runeterra. Riot has already confirmed multiple champions for the set, which therefore features characters involved in some of Runeterra's most iconic rivalries.

Compared to previous expansions, which introduced over 200 new cards, Vendetta will feature 166 cards, with more than 50 showcase cards. While the previous Riftbound set released with twelve new legends, Vendetta will be the first set to have nine Legends, three fewer than previous ones (Origins, Spiritforged & Unleashed). Vendetta also introduces multiple new rune combinations.

Vendetta will expand Riftbound’s premium collectible offerings with the new showcase cards, as well as the unique series in Vendetta of rival duos, which include past champions — and already fan favorites — like Jayce and Viktor, and Jinx and Vi.

Vendetta products will include Display Booster Boxes, Champion decks, four champion paired playmats, and rivalry-themed art sleeves. It is likely that fan favourites like Jinx and Vi will receive the playmats. Riftbound’s third set, Unleashed, introduced playmats and coordinated card sleeves.

One of the biggest gameplay additions in Vendetta is the introduction of new rune pairings. There are currently six runes in Riftbound. The new Riftbound set will add Fury and Calm (red + green), Mind and Body (blue + orange), and Chaos and Order (purple + yellow) rune combinations.

Riot has revealed that Akali will be the Legend assigned the Fury and Calm combination. Meanwhile, Kennen will be the legend piloting Chaos and Order. The new rune combinations will have a major impact on the meta of competitive Riftbound as it will enable new strategies and champion pairings that were previously unavailable.

Vendetta will introduce three new mechanics: Flow, Burn, and Empower.

The first mechanic, Flow, is inspired by League champions who use energy as their resource. Cards with this mechanic can be played from the trash after paying the Flow cost.

Burn is a mechanic that trashes cards from the Main Deck. This mechanic can be played to enable your own synergy within your deck, or thwart the strategy of the opponent’s deck by trashing the correct card at the right moment.

Finally, we have the main mechanic introduced during Vendetta: Empower. Cards with this keyword may gain another effect after they’re in play. For example, this new Fury Poro would get its might amplified if the player discards 1 card to empower it.

The newest expansion will also introduce never-before-seen cards. Though not a new type of spell, Vendetta will introduce Decrees, spells that lean on the rivalry theme. Decree spells will have a powerful effect against the opposite domain. The second type of card introduced, Unit-Gears, are as straightforward as their name implies: a card that is both a unit and a gear.

Wild Rift’s Crystal Rose skin line will be featured in Vendetta as new Alternative Art. These Alternative Arts will appear as often as any other Alt Art. These cards will have a different serialization number because overnumbered cards are reserved for art made for Riftbound.

All nine legends introduced in Vendetta will have their own Overnumbered and Overnumbered + Signed variant. In addition to these, Vendetta will have 22 Champion Overnumbers that represent League’s in-universe rivalries. These pieces will be diptychs depicting quarreling pairings.

This expansion will have three staple, obtainable products available. Vendetta will see the return of the Booster Display, this time featuring art of Akali, Ambessa, and Mel. The box will feature 24 Booster packs, and inside each Vendetta Booster Pack, the player will find the following:

Pre-Rift Kits will also return, like for the previous expansions. Each kit will include five Boosters and a seeded Pre-Rift pack for each of the Legends in Vendetta. This time, the prerelease card will be Riven, Shattered from the Calm domain. This will be The Exile’s Riftbound debut.

Another major addition to Vendetta is the Zed vs. Shen Showdown Decks. The Shen vs. Zed Showdown Decks will be Riftbound's first two-player starter product, with each box containing two ready-to-play decks, booster packs, playmats, and a rulebook to help new players jump straight into the game.

Riot has also confirmed that all cards that will be included in the Showdown Decks will be obtainable through regular booster packs. Each Showdown box includes two complete 56-card preconstructed decks made from 40 cards + twelve runes, one champion legend, three battlefields per deck, and two Vendetta booster packs.

Introduced in Riftbound Unleashed, the vault will return in Riftbound Vendetta. The Vendetta Vault will likely contain six booster packs, 36 basic runes, three double-sided full-art promos, and a reusable storage box. The Vendetta Vault might be slightly different from the Unleashed one, but based on the same concept of being a Vault. With the introduction of new rune combinations, new champions, cards, and the game’s first dedicated two-player product, the expansion offers plenty for both competitive and casual players. Both the Booster Display and the Zed vs Shen Showdown Decks can be preordered from July 6th to July 8th.
