Very few changes on
EDward Gaming's side for the 2026
League of Legends Pro League (
LPL) season. The team has retained four of the five players who represented the roster in Summer 2025: Zhu “
Zdz” De-Zhang in the toplane, Peng “
Xiaohao” Hao in the jungle, midlaner Xiang “
Angel” Tao, and support Wang “
Parukia” Ping-Yang.
They are joined by AD Carry Hu “Leave” Hong-Chao, who makes his return to the club. On the coaching staff side, Peng “Mni” Fang and Liu “Liet” Zheng-Yang remain as assistant coaches, and are joined by two major figures: Yang “Maokai” Ji-Song as Head of Coaching Staff, as well as Ming “Clearlove” Kai as Head Coach.
A Playoff-Level Roster
Keeping almost the same roster is no coincidence. In 2025, the team reached the playoffs twice, including a 7th–8th place finish in Split 3, notably following the arrival of Parukia to replace Zhang “Wink” Rui, who had moved to JD Gaming. They were eliminated by those same JDG, and Wink, in a very close 3–2 series.
Zdz will enter his second year with EDG, but also his sixth alongside Xiaohao, the jungler with whom he previously spent time at Rogue Warriors, Anyone’s Legend, and Weibo Gaming. In the midlane, Angel is clearly the most experienced player on the roster. At 25 years old, the Worlds 2020 finalist with Suning will begin his ninth year as a professional player with EDG.
A true product of the EDG academy is back: Leave was part of the organization’s academy and main roster between 2021 and 2024 before joining Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2025, where he spent a year alongside the legend Kim “
Doinb” Tae-sang. He returns to share the botlane with the roster’s rookie, support Parukia, who also comes from EDG.Youth, and will begin his first full year in the LPL.
A Heavyweight Coaching Staff
The biggest additions also come on the coaching side. Mni and Liet, who guided the roster during Summer after Chang “
Poppy” Po-Hao’s departure, are retained as assistant coaches. Two major names are returning: first, Maokai, who was EDG’s Head Coach between 2021 and 2023, winning both the LPL and Worlds with the team. More recently, he led Top Esports in 2024 and Bilibili Gaming in 2025.
At the time he was at EDG, he had Clearlove under his guidance—who will now return as Head Coach himself. The Chinese legend, champion of the very first MSI in 2015 and five-time LPL champion, had already served as both Head and Assistant Coach at EDG between 2020 and 2024. More recently, he joined JDG last Summer, achieving a top-four finish and coming one BO5 away from the Worlds.
