Riot Games has unveiled part of its 2026 roadmap for
2XKO, highlighted by the launch of the weekly “
2XKO Weekend Warmup” program, designed to make Thursday the central meeting point for players and the competitive scene. Announced on January 15, 2026, this new format comes with major structural adjustments, starting with a shift from five to three seasons in 2026, alongside the objective of releasing five new playable champions throughout the year,
including Caitlyn as early as Season 1.
This release will take place later in January, coinciding with the launch of the first season of the fighting game set in the League of Legends universe, the arrival of its twelfth character, and the official release following several months of open beta. In addition,
2XKO will also launch
on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, after being limited to PC during its testing phase.
Everything about 2XKO Weekend Warmup
Starting January 29, weekly resets including missions, the in-game shop, and new skins will move from Tuesday to Thursday. Riot explained this decision as a way to better align content with the weekend and to concentrate online activity around a clearly identifiable evening, without conflicting with local tournaments usually held on Fridays or Saturdays. These “Weekend Warmup” updates will take the form of blog posts published every Thursday, combining patch notes, content announcements, competitive updates, and community initiatives.
On the competitive side, Frosty Faustings XVIII, scheduled to take place from January 29 to February 1 in Chicago, United States, will serve as the first Major of the 2XKO Competitive Series, the official circuit established by Riot Games for the title. The event will also give players the opportunity to meet and interact with developers on site. Riot further confirmed that the 2026 competitive calendar, announced earlier this year, remains unchanged despite the seasonal restructuring.
