Following the announcement of Jonas “
Memento” Elmarghichi as head coach of Morocco’s
League of Legends team for the Esports Nations Cup, the
coach had to build a roster combining local players competing in the Arabian League with a botlane based in Europe. Sources tell
Sheep Esports on Wednesday that the roster will be composed of:
- Toplane: Aimane "Nireo" Rahli
- Jungle: Mohamed Amine "Shanks" Mougar
- Midlane: Oussama "Akashi" Cherradi
- AD Carry: Mehdi "Dimeh" Karouay and Ryan "Koba" Selaimia
- Support: Mohamed "Myrtus" Rahli
Capable of Competing with Korea
At just 20 years old, Nireo will represent Morocco at the ENC. Recently, he won the 2026 Spring Arabian League 2nd Division with Pyramid IV Esport. The young toplaner is already
at Grandmaster elo in SoloQ above 1000 LP despite the very recent ladder reset. The jungle position will be filled by Shanks, a player currently competing for regnum4games in the German second division, but who does have previous ERL1 experience in the Arabian League with multiple teams.
In the midlane,
as previously reported by RFT, Moroccan legend Akashi will unsurprisingly take the role. He currently plays for Dragons Esports in the Arabian ERL, and finished first in the regular season of the Spring split. Finally, in the botlane, the Moroccan-Belgian veteran Dimeh, as well as the French-Moroccan Koba, both free agents, if elected as starters, will partner with Myrtus in the botlane. The 20-year-old support currently plays for Movistar KOI Fénix and won the LES Kick-off tournament, he is arguably the best rated player on the roster.
A big step in June’s MENA Qualifiers
The top 16 rated roster at the Esports Nations Cup will qualify directly to the Esports Nations Cup. Morocco, who mathematically can’t hope to skip them, will have to compete in MENA’s qualifier in June in order to make it to the main event. Their nation’s standing is determined by the points of its five highest-ratedplayers. (
You can find all the details by following this link). For now, according to Liquipedia’s calculations, Morocco has 400 points, distributed as follows:
- Nireo (0 point)
- Shanks (100 points)
- Akashi (0 point)
- Dimeh (0 point)
- Koba (0 point)
- Myrtus (300 points)
Myrtus brings in 300 points after winning LES. Shanks, who finished 4th in the Winter split of the Arabian League with Anubis Gaming, adds 100 points. Morocco would therefore currently be ranked around 30th in the world, although Liquipedia’s calculations are still incomplete at this stage, since the majority of team rosters are still unknown. As a result, Morocco will most likely have to go through the Middle East & Africa regional qualifierd, which will offer two spots at the Esports Nations Cup.
