On Sunday, Riot Games revealed Miks as VALORANT’s newest Controller, introducing a Croatian agent whose identity centers on sound, rhythm, and teamwork. Unveiled during the Masters Santiago final, Miks feels different from the usual utility-heavy archetype. He is not just there to block vision or stall pushes; he can also help his team move together, take space, and keep momentum once a fight is going their way.
A support-oriented agent
That design is evident in his abilities. Harmonize gives a Combat Stim to a chosen ally or to Miks himself, and the effect can come back after a takedown, which makes it especially useful in explosive site hits. M-Pulse has two modes: either disrupt opponents with a concussive effect or help teammates recover with healing.
Waveform gives him traditional smoke placement through a tactical map, while Bassquake, his ultimate, sends a powerful wave forward that pushes enemies back, slows them, and deafens them at the same time. Overall, his kit is designed for coordinated teams that want a Controller who can do more than just cut vision.
A musical identity
Beyond his gameplay, Miks was designed as an agent whose entire identity is rooted in music. Riot explains that his visual universe, sound design, ability names, and even his personal story were all shaped by this artistic direction. Even before joining VALORANT, music already played a major role in his journey, reinforcing his social, energetic, and unifying personality.
As a result, his profile is not merely that of a tactical Controller but also of a leader who drives momentum and cohesion within his team. Kevin Meier, Game Designer at Riot Games, also elaborated on this vision, stating: “Miks kit was built for the socially-motivated player, someone who finds satisfaction in enabling and supporting their allies.”
He further noted that music inspired “his gameplay, visuals, and narrative,” with abilities based on sound waves and an ultimate designed to replicate the physical sensation of bass felt at close range to a stage. With Miks, Riot is introducing an agent who not only seeks to control the map but also to reshape the collective dynamics of a round.
