The Play-Ins Stage of the 2026 Mid Season Invitational ended exactly how it began. Another convincing performance, another 3-0 sweep, and an unmistakable reminder of why T1 entered the tournament among the favourites.

3-0 to eliminate the LCS representatives and secure their place in the MSI 2026 Bracket Stage. The reigning World Champions entered Play-Ins as the clear favourites to advance, but they did even more than expected by making it through without dropping a single game. Three series, three clean victories, and a perfect 9-0 game record send T1 into the main event with plenty of confidence.
The Play-Ins Stage itself was a bit unusual as every best-of-five ended in a 3-0 sweep — but the scorelines did not tell the full story. Many of the games were decided by narrow teamfights, clutch objective steals, or small macro advantages, with several series feeling much closer than the results suggested. Still, with no match going the distance, LoL Esports fans are left waiting for Silver Scrapes to sound in Daejeon, hopefully soon.
One last 3-0
The first game was closer — for much of the early game — than anyone could have imagined. T1 slowly built a gold lead through better macro and map control, but TL stayed within touching distance by finding good fights and matching T1 around the map. The turning point came around Baron,
where Oner won a crucial 50/50 Smite before T1 immediately came out on top in a razor-thin teamfight. That was enough to crack open TL's base and give the LCK second seed the first game of the series.
The second game was the closest of the match and looked like TL's best performance yet and their chance to get on the board.
T1 started aggressively, but Team Liquid fought back and came close to taking Dragon Soul. Oner once again stepped up with a clutch Smite steal to deny Soul, keeping T1 alive despite losing the fight around the objective. And from there, T1 slowly regained control.
T1 claimed Baron for themselves, and after both teams reached three Dragons, the
decisive seventh Dragon fight finally settled the game. T1 cleanly won the final teamfight to move onto match point after a tense 40-minute battle. "No matter how far ahead you get, it just doesn't matter against this lineup," said the official broadcast after the match.
The third game had T1 wrapping up the Play-in stage pretty fast, to be precise 23minutes fast. After a great start T1 kept building their lead through strong objective control, while TL struggled to slow them down.
The LCS representatives tried to force their way back into the game
with aggressive plays, but T1 punished every mistake. A few minutes later, T1 secured Baron after another dominant teamfight, where Peyz capped off the play with a pentakill. T1 found the winning fight, closed out the game, and completed another 3-0 sweep to finish the Play-In Stage with a perfect 9-0 record.
