On Wednesday, September 3,
Isurus announced the signing of their new midlaner Kim "
Keine" Joon-cheol from
Dignitas. As the only guest team in the LTA Sul, while the other seven are partner teams, the Argentine squad will have to defend its spot in the league through the promotion tournament, facing the top two teams from the
Circuito Desafiante (CD) and
Liga Regional Sur (LRS). For his part, Keine is coming off a difficult year in the LTA North with Dignitas, where results fell short, with his best finish being a short playoffs appearance in Split 2.
At the start of the year, Isurus played under the
Isurus Estral branding as part of a collaboration. They dominated the South league regular season but were eliminated by Team Liquid in the cross-conference playoffs. In Split 2, the team collapsed during the Positioning Phase, finishing 1-6, narrowly surviving the cross-group battle against Fluxo W7M, and then climbed back to the lower bracket final, where they lost to
FURIA. For the Summer Split, the partnership with Estral Esports ended, and Isurus exited early in the playoffs against Leviatan, playing only three BO3s and one BO5.
Keine will be the team’s third midlaner this year, after Jeong "
Mireu" Jo-bin in the first two splits and then Mexican player Francisco "
Leza" Jara. The team will go through the promotion tournament, where they are in the upper bracket. So far, the other qualified teams are Brazil’s
Alpha7 Esports and Argentina’s
Farenvehn. The Sharks still have their fate in their hands as they try to remain in one of Riot Games’ five major
League of Legends leagues.
