Spain and France set for a showmatch during VCT EMEA Stage 2 Finals in Barcelona

In addition to the VCT EMEA Stage 2 playoffs, which will be held in Barcelona from August 28 to 30, Riot Games announced on August 13 that a showmatch will also take place on the event's second day, featuring a matchup between two Spanish and French content creator teams. The match will be played on August 29 at 4 PM CEST and will be a simple best-of-one.

To build the team that will play at home, Óscar "mixwell" Cañellas was given the role of captain. The Spanish streamer, a former CS:GO star and former VALORANT player, notably for G2 Esports, was tasked with selecting six other Spanish players, including two substitutes. The lineup will therefore feature Salvador "Horcus" Matas, streamer for FUSION, Daniel "SirMaza" Maza, content creator for Team Heretics, Alejandro "Blackelespañolito" Garcia, content creator for Movistar KOI, Borja "b0rja" Díaz, streamer for KRÜ Esports, Viizzzm and Nicolás "Nixerino" Canellas Colocho.

On the French side, it will be Adrien "ZeratoR" Nougaret, one of the country's most well-known streamers and the founder of Mandatory. He chose to involve two players he knows well from his club, Damien "HyP" Souville, the club's former captain between 2022 and late 2025, and Jonathan "TakaS" Paupard, MDR's current duelist. Emmanuel "MoMaN" Marquez, former LDLC manager during the club's Major win in 2014 on CS and who has since become a streamer close to ZeratoR, completes the known names on the roster, with the fifth player yet to be revealed.

Alongside this showmatch, four Stage 2 matches of the VCT EMEA will also take place at Barcelona's Olimpic Arena. These four matches are obviously very important, as they will conclude the playoffs of this final stage and, above all, determine the two teams that will qualify directly for VALORANT Champions Shanghai. This privilege is reserved for the two finalists, among the four teams that will compete at the event.

The event will begin on August 28 with two best-of-threes, the Upper Bracket Final and the Lower Bracket Semifinal. On August 29, after the showmatch, a best-of-five will be played for the Lower Bracket Final. The Grand Final, scheduled for August 30, will follow the same format.
