The French
League of Legends national team has found its new Didier Deschamps. For the upcoming
Esports Nations Cup scheduled for November, Quentin “
Zeph” Viguié will serve as the coach of the French squad, sources tell
Sheep Esports. Currently, the assistant coach of
in
LEC, Zeph has previously held head coaching roles during his career, notably during his stint with
LDLC OL in 2022. He will now be tasked with leading France toward success on the international stage.
A few days ago, former professional player and coach
Bora "YellOwStaR" Kim announced that he had been appointed National Team Manager, responsible for organizing and guiding the national project with the goal of bringing the country to victory. One of his first decisions was to appoint Zeph as head coach of the French
League of Legends roster. The choice appears logical: although Zeph is not the head coach of his current team, he has remained one of the most consistently present French coaches at the top level of the LEC in recent years, and made a name for himself in the French community for his drafting skills.
With support from his manager, Zeph will now be responsible for selecting the roster that will represent France in the competition. While most positions appear relatively clear, the AD Carry role remains a major question mark between two of the best French players in the
League of Legends scene. On one side stands veteran star
, widely considered one of the greatest French players of the past decade. On the other is rising prodigy
, one of the most promising prospects in the LEC and already playing under Zeph at Karmine Corp. The latter already revealed in an interview for
L’Equipe that they were talking about making a botlane together and switching with roles on the support position.
The inaugural Esports Nations Cup will take place from November 2 to 29 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The event aims to be the largest national-team competition in esports history, bringing together thousands of players from around 100 countries competing across nearly 16 titles. The League of Legends tournament itself will run from November 21 to 29 and will feature 32 national teams: the 16 highest-ranked nations according to the ENC ranking, along with 16 additional teams qualifying through regional qualifiers. Each nation must submit its roster before April 26.
