Shifters will need to step up their game in the Summer Split if they hope to improve on their disappointing results from the first two splits of the year. To do so, the Swiss organization has made two roster changes, bringing back French jungler Théo "
Sheo" Borile while also signing French support Paul "
Stend" Lardin.
The arrival of these two players means the departure from the starting lineup of Algerian jungler Mehdi "
" Lahlou and Polish support Adrian "
" Trybus. The rest of the roster remains unchanged, with toplaner Shin "
" Yun-hwan, midlaner Ilias "
" Bizriken, and AD Carry Park "
" Seok-hyeon all staying in place, while the team continues to be led by Head Coach Yanis "
Striker" Kella.
Two Splits Below Expectations
So far, Shifters have had two very different splits in terms of performance, but with similarly disappointing results. During the LEC Versus, they came agonizingly close to qualifying for the playoffs, finishing with a 5-6 record and showing they had what it takes to compete with the middle of the LEC pack.
However, everything changed in the Spring Split. Shifters collapsed to a 1-8 record, winning just six games out of the 22 they played. It was towards the end of the split that they brought Sheo into the lineup after his departure from Team Heretics. Things did not go better in the qualifier for the Esports World Cup 2026 main event, as the team suffered an early exit from the bracket.
Already Established Synergies
One of Shifters' biggest strengths heading into the Summer Split could be the existing chemistry between several of their players. Sheo and nuc are close friends outside the game and will finally be reunited after spending several years together on BDS.
Sheo has also already played four splits alongside Stend, with the duo enjoying a few successful moments during their time on Team Heretics. Jungle-mid-support synergy is one of the most important aspects of League of Legends, and having a French trio that has already played together extensively, and gets along well in real life, could prove to be a major asset for Shifters.
Shifters' new signings have clearly endured a difficult year with TH. Even so, there were moments when they stood out as the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season. If Shifters can bring the best out of them, the additions could provide exactly the boost the team needs as it looks to bounce back in the Summer Split.
With 2027 on the horizon, this split could also represent a final opportunity to turn things around before the organization potentially wipes the slate clean and begins rebuilding on a new foundation.
