Contrary to what many projections had suggested, Indonesia is not among the sixteen teams directly invited to compete in
VALORANT at the
Esports Nations Cup, which will take place in Riyadh from November 8 to 15. Instead, the nation will first have to qualify through the
Southeast Asia & Oceania Qualifier. Despite this setback, Indonesia has assembled a competitive roster with the clear objective of securing a place at the main event later this year.
As many observers will likely notice upon reviewing the roster, the primary reason Indonesia fell short of direct qualification stems from the absence of one particular player. Paper Rex star Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto is notably missing from the lineup selected for the competition. The same applies to Rex Regum Qeon player Cahya “monyet” Nugraha. The absence of both players significantly reduces the team's overall firepower and international pedigree.
Even so, Indonesia can still rely on several key strengths, most notably two other Rex Regum Qeon players in xffero and Kushy. The former plays as a Sentinel, while the latter occupies the Initiator role. Although RRQ have yet to attend an international VCT event this season despite missing three chances in a qualification match during the
VCT Pacific Kickoff, the organization is set to compete at the upcoming
Esports World Cup.
They will be joined by Nakya, who currently competes for BOOM Esports, alongside NcSlasher, who was already part of the roster during BOOM's VCT Pacific campaign last year. BerserX provides another familiar face, although he departed BOOM to join
Team Secret this season after the organization returned to VCL competition. Finally, Splash and deLb, both currently competing in
VCT China, complete the roster and could potentially fill substitute roles.
With eight teams participating in the Southeast Asia & Oceania qualifier and two spots available for the main event, Indonesia nevertheless enters the competition as one of the clear favorites. The roster possesses enough experience and talent to make qualification a realistic objective, giving the nation a strong opportunity to secure its place in Riyadh. The qualifier is scheduled to begin on June 26 and conclude on June 28.
