GX Flakked:"That innocence that I had when I was in G2 kind of faded because I learned a lot about myself and how I want to work"

After a two-month-long break, stepped back on the LEC stage for their first Summer Split match against . Unfortunately for GX, the many changes the team made to its roster were not enough to score the first win of the Split. Still, it's only the beginning, and even the latest addition to the roster is confident that this team is destined for great results. In an interview with Sheep Esports, GIANTX's new AD Carry, , talks about his return to the LEC and the growth he has had since his debut in the league.

Víctor "Flakked" Lirola: “I didn't really put any expectation on myself. I just think I just want to come here and just prove to myself. I don't mind about proving anyone, but I want to prove to myself that I still have the level and I still have the ambition and everything. I saw what it takes to be back in the LEC, and I have it.

Flakked: We didn't really prepare anything special against SK because the LEC just started, so we don't really have much info apart from other splits and anything, and the meta completely changed. Of course we prepared everything like the draft and everything else. And I don't think we got out prepared, or we missed something in preparation today. I just think today on the map we played really wrong. Overall, our planning was just really bad today. It was pretty terrible. And the games were really chaotic because of this. And as for myself, I didn't do anything special. I always do my thing on match days. I try to be ready both mentally and physically and just be confident in the day. I just think we didn't really play as a team.

Flakked: Overall as a team, we just need to focus more on playing them up. Because when I joined GX, in scrims we are a team that we like to fight a lot, and we scrim a lot. Today it didn't even show that much because I think — at least talking for myself personally — I played really badly, especially in game one. It was really garbage performance. But I think for sure as a team, we need to just focus more on playing the map, and especially objectives. We legit lost the game on drake.

Flakked: For sure, the way that we approach scrims here is different than then. For example, when I was in , scrims were going really badly. So we couldn't really focus on many things because everything was kind of burning from lane phase to macro to whatever. Everything was pretty all over the place. I like the way we approach scrims now. After the game, we take some time, just five minutes if someone wants to go to the toilet or whatever, and then we kind of have individual review lane-wise or something about micro or something specific that a guy should know lane-wise. And then we have a team review on and with everyone. So we talk about common points and everything. So it's a bit different than, for example, when I was in Heretics. I'm not going to say this is better or worse; I just mean I like it how it is now.

Flakked: I don't really mind it. Of course, I don't know about a fan's perspective, but from a player's perspective, I don't really care. I don't care if I need to play one week, three games, one week, no games. I don't really mind. Of course, if you play three games in a week, you're going to be more exhausted, but it's something that has never bothered me. I worry more about what the fans think about the schedule than myself because I really don't care. If I need to play, I play, and if I don't, I keep working until I play.

Flakked: Of course experience just overall happened. I've been through a lot of scenarios with different teams, different players. Sadly, I was always on losing teams. So I kind of went through everything really hard. When I was in as well, it was my first time in LEC, and of course, I was playing with Caps (Rasmus Winther) and Jankos (Marcin Jankowski) and all these players that I had insane admiration and respect for. But now, after so many years, I came back to the LEC again and… I don't know how to say it, but that innocence that I had when I was in G2 — because I was kind of on top of the world — it kind of faded. It's not like I'm depressed or anything; I learned a lot about myself and how I want to work.

And I think right now, if anything, I would just say that I'm really more focused and more efficient because it was never a matter of spending time or dedicating time to the game. It was just more about efficiency. In the past, I was spending so much time that I wouldn't say it was useless, but I could have had for sure invested my time way better.

I'm still really young, right? I'm 25, but I'm not that kid that had 20 years old than anything. And as well, I'm pretty aware of my situation; I'm not sure if this is going to be my last chance in LEC or anything, but — without trying to banter Heretics because it was my last team — I think I now have the opportunity to be in a more competent team. Not saying that I'm the GOAT and I was getting grifted at Heretics or anything, no shade; I really respect them and I love them. But I think the roster I have [at GIANTX] is really strong and it would be a shame for me to waste this opportunity. And I'm just trying to take it as seriously as I can.

Of course, I like to goof around and everything, but I'm not the same kid I was back then. I'm a bit more grown up, but I still like to goof and be really stupid. But yeah, I think I'm just more focused overall now.

Flakked: Right now there's not much I can think of. I just hope we win, to be honest. The split is really short and winning or losing, has a lot of impact. So I don't really have much banter to say or anything. I just want to play well and win."
