Three of France’s most popular artists have been selected to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the
Esports World Cup. Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora will take the stage at the EWC Opening Ceremony, on July 8, in la Seine Musicale (6800 people capacity) in Boulogne-Billancourt.
DJ Snake, the French-Algerian DJ behind global trap hits like “Turn Down for What” and “Lean On,” is one of France’s biggest music exports and a staple of festival culture worldwide. Aya Nakamura, the French-Malian singer known for “Djadja,” is among the most-streamed Francophone artists globally, having cemented herself as a major pop figure by blending R&B, hip-hop, and Afrobeat. Theodora, a fast-rising French artist mixing rap, pop, Afro, and electronic sounds, has quickly become one of the most talked-about new voices on France’s music scene.
75 Million Dollar Prize Pool in Paris
The competition will run from July 6 to August 23, primarily at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. This edition of the EWC will welcome 2,000 players and 200 clubs from more than 100 different countries, competing across 25 tournaments to share a record prize pool of over $75 million. The lineup features games across every genre, from League of Legends to
VALORANT, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to Street Fighter 6, plus Rocket League, PUBG Mobile, and Chess.
For context, the third edition of the competition was originally scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but was relocated to Paris, France, as announced on May 20 by the Élysée Palace. The relocation occurred due to the current war between the United States and Iran, which has involved numerous drone attacks on neighboring countries of Saudi Arabia.
