One of
Riot Games’ leading artists has recently left the video game publisher. Bo "
chenbowbow" Chen, who spent more than ten years at the company as a Principal Illustrator, will no longer be working on
League of Legends. Over the years, he was responsible for numerous champion splash arts.
Bo Chen announced his departure himself in a message posted on his
LinkedIn page on Monday, February 2: "
I have dedicated ten years to creating splash art, and now, as I left Riot, it feels as if everything happened just yesterday. The splash team at Riot Games has been the most incredible place I have ever worked. At the same time, I am excited and look forward to embarking on the next chapter of my life."
In addition, he contributed to numerous skin lines throughout the game’s history. One of the most notable collections he worked on was the first
K/DA lineup, in collaboration with Alvin Lee and Pan Chengwei. His portfolio also includes splash arts for
HEARTSTEEL,
EDG, and
Cosmic, as well as memorable individual pieces such as
Winterblessed Diana,
Firecracker Vayne, and
PROJECT: Pyke. A comprehensive list of his works can be found on the
League of Legends wiki.
