According to sources close to
Sheep Esports, Kang
“solo” Keun-chul and Kim
“HSK” Hae-seong have reached verbal agreements to remain on Gen.G’s
VALORANT staff for the 2026
VCT Pacific season. solo has served as head coach since the January 2024 restructuring that installed him at the helm and moved HSK into a strategy role. Our sources indicate that the pair intend to continue working together, after Gen.G thanking them for their service as their contracts were coming to an end
on X this Tuesday.
These extensions are made possible by Gen.G’s rise over the past two seasons. In 2024, the team finished as runners-up at Masters Madrid, before securing the Pacific region’s first international trophy by winning Masters Shanghai. The following year, Gen.G advanced from the Masters Toronto Swiss stage into the playoffs, later placing third at the Esports World Cup after defeating Paper Rex 2–0 in the consolation final following a narrow semifinal loss to Team Heretics, which prevented them from qualifying for Champions Paris.
A veteran of Korean
Counter-Strike, solo transitioned into
VALORANT coaching with DAMWON/Dplus before joining Gen.G, where he was elevated to head coach in January 2024. HSK, himself a former
CS:GO pro, arrived at Gen.G in October 2023 following a coaching stint with DetonatioN FocusMe and has operated in tactical and strategic capacities since the 2024 restructuring.
Locking in solo and HSK would preserve Gen.G’s technical core, preparation routines, scouting frameworks, and match-day protocols heading into 2026. Continuity on the staff side allows the organization to focus offseason resources on role refinement and roster decisions around a proven coaching spine that has already delivered an international title and repeated deep runs.
