Another Finnish star joins Vitality
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Team Vitality and Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen have reached a verbal agreement for the upcoming VCT EMEA season. After spending a year with BBL Esports, the Finnish player is now set to join the French organization, where he will reunite with Gregor "PAL" Morton, his coach in 2025 and once again in 2026, as Sheep Esports recently revealed.
Just one match away from qualifying for VALORANT Champions with the Turkish club, Jamppi is choosing to move on to a new project, despite still being under contract until the end of 2026. BBL’s trajectory in 2025 was one of steady progress: a Top 5-6 finish at Kickoff, followed by a Top 4 in Stage 1, and then a victory in the qualifying tournament for the Esports World Cup. At that event, their first international appearance since LOCK//IN São Paulo in early 2023, BBL managed a respectable Top 5-8 run, falling in the quarterfinals to Team Heretics. Returning to Berlin, the team then produced their best split of the year, reaching the decisive match for Champions Paris against GIANTX, but a 3-0 loss crushed their hopes of qualification.
A long fall for Vitality in 2025
For Team Vitality, the story of the season was the opposite, starting strong before a sharp decline. Crowned Kickoff EMEA champions, the French organization traveled to Bangkok for the first Masters event of 2025. Despite securing a Top 4 finish after falling to eventual champions T1, something seemed to break for the hive in Thailand. With back-to-back Top 7-8 finishes in Stage 1 and Stage 2, Vitality ultimately missed out on Champions qualification, leading the club to initiate changes within the roster.
As Sheep Esports has already reported, the project is being rebuilt around PAL, the former BBL coach who is now taking full control of the section, alongside the star duo of Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev and Ștefan "Sayonara" Mîtcu. As for the rest of the lineup, Blendi "kovaQ" Kovaci and Bartosz "UNFAKE" Bernacki have both recently announced they are seeking new opportunities, while the futures of Kimmie "Kicks" Laasner and Felipe "Less" Basso remain uncertain.
Team Vitality roster for VCT EMEA 2026:
- Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev
- Ștefan "Sayonara" Mîtcu
- Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen (new)
- Gregor "PAL" Morton (coach)
