The
Rocket League Esports World Cup 2026 is right around the corner. From August 12-16, a total of 16 teams will battle it out in the third edition of the event, for their share of a $1,000,000 prizepool. However, currently one spot remains unfilled and will be given to the winner of the EWC Last Chance Qualifier which is set to take place from August 08-10 on LAN in Paris at the
Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Registration for the qualifier closed on August 06 at 8:59 CEST, with a full list of teams now set for the event.
While 90 overall teams initially signed up for the qualifier, only 48 teams completed the registration process, likely due to confusion from players over the in-person nature of the event. As a result, the teams have been split into four pools of 12, where each pool will have four available slots to make stage #2 of the qualifier. The final 16 teams will duke it out in a double elimination bracket with each series being a best-of-five before the grand final, where the remaining two teams will play a best-of-seven for the only spot available in the EWC Main Event. Pools A and B will begin at 15:40 CEST on Saturday, while pools C and D will begin at the same time on Sunday. Stage #2, featuring the final top 16, will begin at 12:00 CEST. A number of professional lineups are coming from outside of Europe for a chance to reach the EWC, including five North America squads, Team Stallions from the Middle East and BS+ Competition from South America. DOS (DrKnown, ops, Suspect), who finished second place in the MENA LCQ for the 2026 World Championship, initially signed up for the event but have not been confirmed in the updated bracket. While the majority of other notable rosters have been confirmed for the qualifier, Italian lineup GHT (Gramma, Hyderr, tms) also miss out. Man City Esports, FUT Esports, Virtus.pro and PCS Stride, who will all appear at the RLCS 2026 World Championship, have been awarded the top four seeds in the qualifier. The winner of this LCQ will claim the final spot at the EWC Main Event earning a guaranteed $10,000, with another $100,000 split between the other top-16 teams. With the amount of professional players turning up to the event for a single shot at reaching the EWC, the qualifier is expected to be a historic blood bath, harking back to the days of the Dreamhack Majors in 2019.
