Egypt has its five-man
League of Legends roster set for the
2026 Esports Nations Cup, where they will represent Umm al-Dunya, most likely as early as June 19–21 in the Middle Eastern and North African qualifiers. There, the squad will compete against other regional challengers vying for one of the two tickets to the
ENC Main Event, set to take place from November 21 to 29.
Though the MENA region remains one of the newest to integrate the
LoL Esports ecosystem, being officially
introduced in 2023 through the merge into the EMEA region, it has already secured a strong position within the ecosystem. Egypt, on its own, has often ranked among the top performers in the MENA region, with organizations like
RA’AD and
each achieving success in their own right.
Nonetheless, the lineup assembled ahead of the 2026 ENC brings together both experienced and younger players of the
Arabian League. This explosive mix will evolve under the leadership of Sherif “
Presence” El-Guindy, current head coach of the third-placed AL team
.
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, the team will be composed of:
- Toplane: Maged "Maged" Marawan Mohamed
- Jungle: Younis "ShizuOo" Mahmoud
- Midlane: Ahmed "VAEII" Ashraf
- AD Carry: Mohamed "Boda" Yahia
- Support: Fady "Sivvy" Ibrahim El Qasabi
From Top to Bot for Boda
By far the most intriguing element of this roster,
, current toplaner of Arabian League champions Anubis Gaming, will compete as the lineup’s AD Carry. Best known for his prowess under
Geekay, and more recently for his short stint with
BK ROG Esports, before the team
was removed from the LFL, this choice may seem peculiar at first glance, but ultimately makes a lot of sense.
Truth be told, Egypt has lacked strong representation in the AD Carry role in recent years. Two potential options would have been Ziad “Mune” Mohamed, but he has only played one split in a first-division ERL despite sitting in Challenger, and has been mostly inactive since 2024 professionally, or Eslam “Dattura” Farag Ali, once a top performer for Egypt but now semi-retired.
In this context, the decision to place Boda in the botlane is understandable, especially given that it is his secondary role in solo queue and that he is a player who does not shy away from picking ranged champions in top lane, such as Vayne or Varus. Throughout his career, Boda has had brief stints as an AD Carry, midlaner, and jungler, though never for extended periods. Currently, he sits as the highest-ranked Egyptian player on the European servers at 2400 LP Challenger.
With this move,
Maged, who competes for
, will take over the toplane. Interestingly, Boda and Maged have already played together before, having both represented Egypt at the Arab International Tournament last year, where they unfortunately exited in the first round. In recent times, Maged has consistently remained the second-highest-ranked Egyptian toplaner on the ladder at 1400 LP, though he has fallen short of qualifying for EMEA Masters so far in 2026.
A Mix of Experienced Players and Rookies
As another veteran presence in the squad, Sivvy will join Boda as his support. While he may appear to be a weaker link on paper when considering his recent competitive results and solo queue ranking—currently the lowest-ranked member of the team at 500 LP—Sivvy makes up for it with experience. Most notably, he has competed in Egypt for nearly ten years, since 2016, and was also part of RA’AD’s dominant 2021 and 2022 lineup, prior to the integration of the MENA region into the current ERL circuit.
Finally, for the two diamonds in the rough of this lineup, ShizuOo and VAEII will fill the roles of jungler and midlaner respectively. Both rookies in their first true competitive year, they represent some of the most promising emerging talent in Egypt, with ShizuOo sitting at 2000 LP in Challenger and VAEII slightly trailing behind at 1800 LP.
The duo also bring prior competitive experience, having played on the same roster under
during the Winter split under the guidance of Presence—who will also be coaching Team Egypt. Together, they secured a third-place finish in the Arabian League and made their first appearance at the 2026 EMEA Masters Winter edition.
A Promising Squad for Qualifiers
At 150 points, it is nearly unthinkable for Egypt to receive an invitation among the top 16 ranked countries worldwide. Unfortunately, only points earned during the Winter split are counted, and neither of the team’s most experienced players, Boda and Maged, competed at the start of the year.
As a result, only VAEII contributes points to the lineup, since even ShizuOo did not receive any after joining mid-Winter.
- Maged (0 points)
- ShizuOo (0 points)
- VAEII (150 points)
- Boda (0 points)
- Sivvy (0 points)
While standings are not yet final and surprises could still occur, as several rosters remain unconfirmed, Presence and his players will almost certainly have to go through the Middle Eastern and North African qualifiers. Still, this remains one of the most promising squads in the region.
As an additional advantage, the tournament format means the team will not have to face other European powerhouses that may miss out on direct invitations before entering the main event.
Only time will tell whether Egypt can rise to the challenge ahead and bring glory home.
