North American team Blue Otter (BLUE) are set to return to the NACL in 2025 with their current roster: toplaner Michael "Qwacker" Zou, jungler Sean "Music" Wishko, midlaner Samrith "Samikin" Loeung, AD Carry Ha-Lim "Joseph" "Levitate" Hong and support David "rovex" Sin-Keo. Aleksandar "ThinUnclePhil" Makarovski will also keep his Head Coach position. Despite significant interest from other organizations in acquiring the entire squad, all five players have elected to re-sign with the Otters. This is set to make BLUE the only team whose lineup has remained intact through this offseason.
A surprise to many
Blue Otter qualified for NACL Summer this year by defeating LiT Esports in the lower bracket of the promotion tournament. Following their promotion, BLUE announced their partnership with Cloud9, which would give the NACL players access to C9’s coaching staff, internal scrim data, and more. Even with the extra resources, community sentiment had the team pegged for the bottom half of the league. For Samikin and Levitate, this would be their first real chance in Tier 2. With all that in mind, the team secured the 5th seed coming into playoffs, where they would end their summer run also at 5th place after losing the rematch to Supernova.
Although 2025 Spring would only be Blue Otter’s second NACL split, it will mark the start of year 2 for four-fifths of the starting lineup —Qwacker joined after the team was promoted into the league. With Disguised’s guest slot potentially up for grabs in the LTA at the end of the 2025 season, the organization is hoping to continue their upward trajectory as the competition continues to grow stronger in the NACL.
