Team Heretics has one game to qualify for the
LEC Versus playoffs, and it’s against
Karmine Corp, currently leading the ranks. One game left to decide whether TH will continue focusing on the Winter Split or have a 2-months break before the next official game.
In an interview with
Sheep Esports,
TH’s jungler,
Théo "Sheo" Borile, shares his thoughts on the last win against
Fnatic, KC’s jungler Martin "
Yike" Sundelin, and the possibility of not making LEC Versus playoffs.
How do you feel after the win today? And maybe where are your unfiltered thoughts about the game?
Théo "Sheo" Borile: "I feel pretty good after the win because it was really important for the playoff and I played pretty well. So I'm happy with my performance.
Now you have a match against KC before you can lock in for LEC Versus playoffs. Anything that you and your teammate worked on specifically for this match?
Sheo: Not really anything specific for them, but we just focused on ourselves and on what we need to improve. And maybe we'll pull out some spicy picks, who knows?
What’s your perspective on Yike? How do you feel he's evolved from last year?
Sheo: I mean, I think he's the same. Last year KC just collapsed. They were not performing as a team. And if you're a jungler and your team is not playing well together or they don't like each other, I think it's really hard to perform well as well. But we can see right now that he's playing really well, just like when he was in G2 Esports. I'm looking forward to the game against him.
He did say in an interview with me that he feels more connected with his teammates this year. Do you feel that is a crucial part of being a jangler, like having a good relationship with your team outside of the game?
Sheo: Yes, I would say so, because when you are jungler, you need to connect everyone in the game and make sure everyone is on the same page. So if you like
your team best, then you can just talk to them about anything, everything game-related or not. And it's so easier to improve or just to have fun overall.
How do you connect with your teammates?
Sheo: As a team activity, sometimes football, ping pong. In Heretics, for example, we play ping pong a lot and that brings us closer, with
Tolga "Serin" Ölmez as well. He likes to play even though he's a noob, but I don't mind. [laughs]
And in-game I will be calling the early game a lot and then we review a lot of games and we watch a lot of clips from our coaching staff. And so for the mid-game part, so everyone knows what they need to do without us really talking too much, so we don't waste time.
Sheo: I think if we would not make the playoffs it would be a failure for us because there are two ERL teams in the league. Not making the top eight would be really bad for us because it will stop our progress because we'll stop scrimming and not play on stage. So just for us to improve, it's really important that we can make it to the playoffs.
How do you personally define success for you and your roster?
Sheo: I mean, for me, I want to be the best jungle in the LEC and for us as a team, I think we are all aiming for a title and to go to international events. That's our goal. Maybe Winter will be hard because we are a new team and we need time to link up, but I'm sure we can do it this year.
Within your team do you do anything in particular to work on your confidence?
Sheo: Our coach likes to tell us not to get too arrogant or have too much ego when we win one game, because that might happen in some teams. So even though we played well or we won, we still have to focus and we still try to focus on ourselves. It's not the easiest when you win because then you're thinking you're so good, but it's not true. So we need to be mindful and keep working on the next week of scrimming so we can still perform like that the next week."
