After a 2–0 victory against
, the Bees stand near the top of the
LEC with a 2–1 record halfway through Week 2 of the Spring Split. As
continues its ascension, all eyes are on the budding squad as they prepare to face the Spanish juggernaut
. In an exclusive interview, midlaner
sat down with
Sheep Esports to discuss the upcoming match, his team’s growth, work ethic, the state of
League of Legends, and the honesty of professional players.
How was it delivering this Aurelion Sol performance? I can imagine it must have been quite insane getting this fed.
Marek "Humanoid" Brázda: “Yeah, I am always happy whenever I get to play this champion in competitive. It's so much fun, even though my team has to kind of bleed because I'm so useless in the early game. The map is usually hard in the early game, but late game, this champ is just a beast.
Do you feel it worked because of ’s struggles and shakiness?
Humanoid: The problem of this champion is that you basically can't make a mistake later on, and if you make one mistake, they get back into the game. It's really hard to pilot. Even when they had two or three barons this game, it was just impossible for them to siege. So they basically need to get soul really fast and get elder. But if they don't do it fast, then they are just on a timer.
How do you assess the team’s current level and its progression since Winter?
Humanoid: We are for sure playing better than last split. I think we played pretty bad in the playoffs last time, so I hope we can go a lot further this split.
What is the team’s atmosphere like behind the scenes—more serious than what we see on camera, or similar?
Humanoid: It's kind of the same as when we are on camera. During the game, we are serious, but there are moments where we are not. For example, when we finish a team fight, usually there's going to be a few seconds when everyone is saying some random stuff. But other than that, we are very serious during the game, just not outside the game.
There has been recent talks about work ethic in Europe. Do you feel like some players in the LEC are lazy, or is that perception exaggerated?
Humanoid: Well, it depends on what “lazy” means. I think most people just play the game for the whole day. And if lazy means playing it only 10 hours a day instead of 12, then people are lazy, I guess. It's pretty hard to do it consistently for years, nonstop, just to play every single day.
Given how long you’ve been playing, how would you describe your relationship with the game today—do you still enjoy it as much, even in your free time?
Humanoid: Not as much as before for sure, not as much as years ago. But it's still fine. It just gets a little bit boring with the meta. Riot are just not changing anything. They just make zero meaningful changes basically throughout the year. So you just have to play the OP champs.
If you want to play solo queue, Orianna has been just the best midlaner for such a long time. And if I want to play something else… then the enemy pick Orianna, and it’s unplayable for me. Riot should just make some more changes, it would make things so much better.
With Riot announcing major future changes like “League Next”, is there anything specific you hope to see from these updates?
Humanoid: I honestly have no idea what they could do. I mean, if I could choose, I would just delete so many champions from the game that I hate. But other than that, I don't know. I think they did a great job with the quests. I really like the quests. So hopefully they do a good job with this one. It's supposed to be an even bigger change, so we'll see.
If you had to delete just one champion from the game, which one would it be?
Humanoid: Mel. Mel instantly.
After many years of doing interviews, do you enjoy them, and are there topics you wish were asked more often?
Humanoid: Well, I don't really mind interviews. It’s not like I enjoy them, you know, but it is completely fine for me to do them. Most of the time it’s the same questions, to be honest, and then it gets kind of repetitive. But at the same time, I have no idea what I would ask myself if I would come up with a creative question. So… I don’t know, I would have to prepare for that a little bit more.
Do you think most professional players are honest in interviews or do y-…
Humanoid: No, absolutely not. Whatever you see in interviews, I can tell you a player one day tells me something, and then the next day in an interview they say something completely opposite. But I also do it.
Considering that you’ve made Worlds every year when you were actively playing, and with G2, KC, and MKOI among the top three teams from last split, which team’s Worlds spot do you plan on taking?
Humanoid: KC. We lost to them twice already. We need to kick them out now in summer.
Do you feel you have a clear idea of how to beat them in your next matchup?
Humanoid: We just need to play better than them. There is not much else to it. I think both times it was really close, so I don't think there's a big difference. We just need to play a little bit better.
Ahead of your match against , what are your thoughts on facing them—especially with performing well in midlane but the rest of the team seeming a bit inconsistent?
Humanoid: It should be a hard match. They usually win through mid, I kind of agree with that. Jojo is playing really well, but his team is kind of lacking. Their bot and top lanes are not the strongest, I would say. So we’ll see if we manage to take them out. I don’t really have anything special prepared for them yet.
So what you're saying is that if you lose it's on you then?
Humanoid: [Laughs] Let’s wait and see. Could be.
What is the story behind your arm tattoo?
Humanoid: There is no lore. I just saw a picture I liked and then I did it. I just thought it looked cool.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Humanoid: Thank you guys for the support, and we will make it through. If not this split, then next split, because I’m going to Worlds. I never miss Worlds. Except when I get benched.”
