The Argentine company
FiReLEAGUE has confirmed that it will host
the first Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2027 in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. The announcement, made on Sunday January 18, generated significant waves, as it will mark only the second time in the history of the
CS franchise that an official Valve tournament is held in South America, following IEM Rio in 2022. The competition is scheduled to take place from May 31 to June 21, 2027.
Recognized in recent years for its events across South America, the Argentine tournament organizer notably gained attention with FiReLEAGUE Buenos Aires 2025, a competition held inside the Buenos Aires metro system last May. Players quite literally competed on the subway platforms of the Argentine capital, playing just a few meters away from trains passing at full speed, creating one of the most unique settings ever seen in professional Counter-Strike.
This event represents the third confirmed future Major for
CS2 and the first of the two planned for 2027. Looking ahead to 2026, the first Major will take place in Cologne, organized by ESL as part of IEM Cologne, widely regarded as the Cathedral of
Counter-Strike. The second Major of that year will be held in
Singapore, organized by PGL, a few months after another major international event hosted in the city-state, the BLAST World Final.
According to information from
HLTV, the second Major of 2027 is expected to be held in China and organized by the Chinese company Perfect World. Having already hosted a Major in 2024 in Shanghai, the organizer is reportedly set to repeat the experience in the same city. This situation appears to confirm the absence of a Major in Europe not only in 2027 but also in 2028. Indeed, still according to
HLTV, BLAST and ESL are set to handle the two Majors in 2028, with tournaments expected to take place in the United States, followed by either Brazil or Australia, based on several circulating rumors.
