Óscar “
” Muñoz Jiménez is back. After
an absence since his last professional appearance at Worlds 2025 with
, the Spanish toplaner will return to the LEC this summer with
, where he will step into the role left open by Eren “
” Yıldız’s departure, announced by the team on Tuesday.
This marks GIANTX’s first roster change since Winter 2025, when the current lineup was first assembled and, until now, kept intact through the rest of the year.
Earlier that season, head coach André "
Guilhoto" Guilhoto had defended keeping the roster intact: “
Part of wanting to keep the roster together is to see the differences these theories can make with the same players… Unless something makes me change my mind, I will not change the roster.” Now, with Oscarinin’s arrival, that decision has been reversed as the team heads into the final split, which looks like a test to try and break their ceiling.
A return without a detour through the ERLs
For Oscarinin, the move brings an end to a stretch without a team in the LEC’s top division. He does not need to go through the ERLs to get back into Europe’s premier league, despite spending the first part of the year outside competition. His name had already surfaced during the 2025/2026 offseason, with
showing interest before eventually settling on Volodymyr "
" Sorokin.
His return also closes the chapter on a difficult period for one of Europe’s most recognizable toplaners who had been left without a starting spot in the LEC this year, alongside players such as Adam "
" Maanane, now with ZYB in the LFL, and Gabriël "
" Rau.
Earlier this year, while still looking for an opportunity,
Oscarinin shared a message on X saying he wanted to play in the LEC again and would focus in the meantime on streaming and solo queue. Since leaving Fnatic, and especially since April, Oscarinin has been grinding Solo Queue extensively. The top laner
recently peaked at 2,329 LP and, at the time of writing, sits at 2,209 LP on the EUW server.
After three years in black and orange, and despite having originally been under contract through 2026, he was one of the major sacrifices made by Fnatic’s roster reshuffle. Now, with GIANTX, he gets a new chance to prove he still belongs at the highest level of European League of Legends.
