Arriving ahead of the 2026 season, Jordan "
jowa" Wang is now set to be benched by Wolves Esports in
VCT China, according to sources close to
Sheep Esports. Just like the football section in the Prime League, the Canadian player and his teammates failed to find the right formula this
VALORANT Champions Tour season, after the team surprised many in 2025, especially at Masters Toronto. According to information gathered by our reporters, Liang "
glacier" Zhe-kai is expected to transition from his Duelist role to a flex position, while Wolves have begun searching for a new Duelist, who could potentially be an import.
Active for several years in Tier 2 and Tier 3 in North America, jowa stepped up to the top level and moved to China in late 2025, following two roster changes made by the organization at the end of the season. Only two players remained, with Pong "SiuFatBB" Ka-hei: the star in-game leader of the project, Tyler "juicy" Aeria, and Liu "Spring" Chun-ting. The team then brought in four new players, with Wang "yosemite" Lei, who had already competed in VCT last year, Fei "Satoshi" Zhixian, Bijan "qiutiaN" Moeinzadeh, and jowa.
What future for Wolves?
A roster move that already raised questions about
Wolves’ direction, now confirmed by the results, with a Top 9-10 finish at Kickoff China after two wins and three losses. This setback cost
qiutiaN his spot, as he joined Nova Esports shortly after, but also impacted juicy and Satoshi, who did not play at the start of the season with Wolves outside of non-VCT events. In the meantime, and as previously reported by
Sheep Esports, the organization brought in glacier.
The China Evolution Series 2026: Act 1 did not bring better results for the Chinese team, finishing Top 9-12. The trend continued into VCT CN Stage 1, where Wolves placed Top 11-12. With five losses and only two maps won, Wolves were the weakest team of the stage, pushing the project toward further changes, including the decision to bench jowa.
Mostly playing Initiators, the Canadian player, like his captain, ranked near the bottom of most statistical categories during this stage, after sitting around mid-table at Kickoff. Ahead of Stage 2, Wolves will now need to find a replacement for jowa.
