G2 Esports are in the process of building an academy team in the European Regional Leagues (ERLs). Multiple sources have shared this information with Sheep Esports after G2 initiated the first steps toward projects that could mark their return to Tier 2 competition.
A collab with NORD
Among these projects, one of the main options under serious consideration involves a collaboration with NORD Esports. In a potential merger, both organizations would join forces to field a team in the Prime League, targeting the German market. G2 Esports are also considering partnering with a well-known German influencer for this project, although its realization will depend on the financial feasibility of the plan. Beyond this partnership, the organizationâs goal with an academy is to develop and compete with rising talent in Tier 2, effectively acting as a secondary team to their LEC roster currently competing at Worlds.
NORD Esports are already very active in the ERLs. Since joining the NLC in 2023, the organization made waves in 2025 by embracing the regionâs streaming trend and fielding Marcin âJankosâ Jankowski as part of their roster. Additionally, NORD have been organizing several NNO Cups, including a pre-summer event that featured LEC teams such as SK Gaming and Team Vitality. Should their collaboration with G2 come to fruition, the team would move to the Prime League, aligning with NORDâs German roots.
Should they be unable to obtain a Prime League spot, G2 Esports may instead look to compete in another ERL, focusing on a different regional market.
This time, G2 seem determined to return to the ERLs and establish a new academy team. Discussions appear to be well advanced, and Sheep Esports will provide further updates once the project and its roster are finalized.
