While the EMEA region’s women’s scene is in full force,
has taken it upon themselves to revive the legacy of the
LCS Game Changers. Serving as a spiritual successor, the
League Impact Series (LIS) are set to begin on August 1, aiming to pick up where
Riot Games left off and provide
women and players of marginalized genders from
North and Latin American countries with a clear structure toward professional play.
The competition is set to ramp up throughout the summer, with all matches following the open qualifiers being broadcasted live for fans to follow the action, leading up to a culminating LAN finals on October 10 at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. On the line, eight teams—four invited and four qualified—will compete for a $7,500 prize pool, as well as an additional $2,500 bonus through what the organization calls “content incentives.”
As a pilot project, the LIS is not currently endorsed or sponsored by
Riot Games and thus entirely depends on its organizers. According to members close to the project, Blue Otter is currently
actively seeking sponsors in order to extend this competition beyond its initial edition. Sign-ups for the tournament are set to open on July 12th. Meanwhile, teams and players may already get in contact with the tournament operators through the
competition’s official Discord server.
The Goals
Initially inaugurated in 2021, nearly at the same time as its now much more well-known
VALORANT counterpart, the Game Changers program used to be an active piece of the North American
League of Legends ecosystem. Unfortunately, the program rapidly fell into obscurity, only lasting three editions, with
only the final one being made public while the others took place behind closed doors. This decline was further reinforced by the major
layoffs Riot Games endured in 2024, which also put a stop to efforts to launch Game Changers in Europe at the time.
Having been absent for nearly three years, the program has left a large void on the new continent, leaving women with no dedicated space of their own and forcing them to resort to smaller amateur competitions in an environment that
too often remains unwelcoming, even in 2026.
Through this competition, Blue Otter aims to promote talents from marginalized genders and provide them with a high-level competitive environment where they can thrive and improve, while also attempting to build stronger connections between the NA and LATAM communities to help rebuild regional unity.

The Format
The League Impact Series will unfold across multiple stages, taking teams from open competition all the way to an offline showdown in Ontario.
The journey will begin with the Open Qualifiers on August 1, where teams of all skill levels will have the opportunity to fight for their spot. With no rank restrictions, players ranging from Emerald to Challenger can team up and attempt to pull off a miracle run through a double-elimination, best-of-three bracket. The top four teams will earn their place in the Group Stage.
They will be joined by four invited teams selected through the application process, with direct invitations reserved for Tier 1 organizations and squads showcasing the highest average rank among applicants. Split into two groups of four, teams will battle across three weeks of best-of-three matches, with the top three teams from each group moving on to the Playoffs.
The Playoffs will raise the stakes with a four-week, best-of-five double-elimination bracket. The top two teams from each group will enter the upper bracket, while the third-place finishers will have to fight their way through the lower bracket.
The season will then culminate with the Grand Finals, where the two remaining teams will meet in person on October 10 at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Blue Otter will cover travel and housing costs for the finalists as they compete for the title.
