Bin’s future unclear as BLG promote Wenbo to the toplane

A shock in the LPL. Bilibili Gaming have announced on Thursday the promotion of their academy toplaner Yang “Wenbo” Wen-Bo to their LPL roster. The situation surrounding Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin remains unclear, but rumours have surfaced on Chinese social media. According to 召唤师Park on Weibo, Bin would have left the team by himself.

Wenbo is expected to play in BLG’s next BO3 against Top Esports on Friday, January 30. BLG will then take on Invictus Gaming on January 31, Weibo Gaming on February 2, before wrapping up the regular season against Anyone’s Legend on February 6. The team currently sits tied for first place in the Ascend group, with a 4–2 record, despite dropping their last two BO3 series to JD Gaming.

According to screenshots showcasing a discussion between employees internal to BLG and shared by Park on Weibo, Bin has gotten into an argument with a team manager. The toplaner reportedly “picked up his backpack and walked away” following the dispute. It remains unclear whether Bin’s departure is temporary, and BLG has yet to issue an official statement. For now, Bin has been benched but remains under contract with the organization.

Wenbo is a young player who joined BLG.Junior in May 2025. He played in the LDL Rounds 1 and 2, during which the team finished second both times, first behind Top Esports Challengers, and later second to Oh My God. He also participated in the Asia Masters 2025 Swiss Stage 2, but the team didn’t advance, finishing the tournament with a score of 2–4. Lastly, Wenbo appeared for a single game at the Esports Championships Asia 2025, playing for China. The rest of the tournament was played by ThunderTalk Gaming’s toplaner, Li “Keshi” Qing-Hua.

Bin’s departure would be a huge shock in China. At just 22 years old, the Chinese toplaner is one of the most legendary players in the league. He began his career in 2019 with Suning-S in the LDL before being promoted in 2020, achieving a world-class Summer Split and qualifying for Worlds, where he reached the grand final but lost to DAMWON Gaming.

In 2022, Bin joined Royal Never Give Up, winning the Spring Split and the Mid-Season Invitational after defeating T1 3–2 in the final. He later signed with Bilibili Gaming in Summer 2022, where he reached the LPL finals twice, the MSI finals twice, and the Worlds final once, while also securing three LPL titles.

Bin has now been with BLG for three and a half years, and his 2026 season could be off to a far smoother start. While awaiting further details, fans and personalities have already begun reacting to the situation online.
