With
League of Legends second season of 2026, Pandemonium, Riot Games has released a handful of item changes on the PBE test server. Some weaker items were revamped, and some new starter items and boots were added to the PBE already. However, the items on the PBE server are not final and could see changes before going live for season two of 2026 on patch 26.9.
All New Items Coming To League In Patch 26.9
Riot Games is adding the new starter items and boots, Doran’s Bow, Doran’s Helm, and Gluttonous Greaves, which are added to help widen the different itemization builds a player can go with during a game of League of Legends. Additionally, some of the current items are being changed to give players the option to widen their range of itemizations in-game.
Doran’s Bow
Doran’s Bow is one of the two new starting items, looking to be an option as a more aggressive early game item.
From its stats, Doran’s Bow looks to be skewed towards AD carry champions who want to have more attack speed and Omnivamp in early game. Compared to Doran’s Blade, which has 10 AD, 80 Health, and 2.5 Omnivamp, Doran’s Bow gives 15% Attack Speed, which should benefit champions who want to auto-attack faster in the early game.
Some good examples of champions who would build this are Yasuo and Yone, who are champions who highly benefit from attack speed, as well as benefiting from Omnivamp, giving them a stronger early game, helping them in lane, and letting them snowball faster for stronger items.
Doran’s Helm
Doran’s Helm looks to be an option for tanks and bruisers to build in a lane where they want to be more tanky and healthy early. With the passive “Helping Hand”, champions building Doran’s Helm can push out waves faster and, in general, have an easier and healthier laning phase than what you currently can have building the other defensive starter item Doran’s Shield.
Doran’s Shield will still be a good optional starting item when laning into more poke-heavy matchups like Vayne and Kennen, where you benefit more from the regeneration after being hit rather than the raw stats you gain from Doran’s Helm.
There is also an angle for mages to build this item, as the stats the item gives help the sustainability of mages, making them more tanky and healthy if they do not need the extra mana regen and mana Doran’s ring, or Tear of the Goddess gives.
Omnivamp Boots
Gluttonous Greaves are the new boots coming to
League of Legends. This will be the first new boots variant since the release of
Symbiotic Soles back in patch 14.10. These boots are Omnivamp boots, which can be built by multiple different classes of champions.
Uniquely, the Upgraded boots you get from the midlane role-quest give you increased damage while above half health, and while below half health, you gain 15% increased healing, shielding, and regeneration.
These boots will likely become meta on champions who want to life-steal a lot in fights like Aatrox, Olaf and Riven. As they want to be able to have long fights where they can hit the enemies multiple times with both abilities and auto attacks to both out-sustain and out-damage the enemy over a longer fight than a short one as a fighter.
The midlane quest could make the item strong on even enchanters in the midlane like Karma or Seraphine who could benefit heavily from the extra 15% increasing healing and shielding gained from the Now and Forever effect.
All Reworked Items Coming
With the addition of new items, Riot Games is also adjusting some of the current items in the game to push players into diversifying their builds more than currently on live. The different item adjustments should help multiple different roles of champions and create a more diverse build mastery for all League of Legends players.
Statikk Shiv
Statikk Shiv is set to be changed from your next three basic attacks, dealing bonus magic damage and bouncing to the closest targets into a singular basic attack, which still bounces, but the bounce can apply On-Hit effects on everything hit. A good example of this is what
League of Legends streamer — No Arm Whatley showed on
X.com where Heartsteel procs on all 4 enemies hit by Statikk Shiv.
As mentioned by Matthew “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison in
Sheep Esports exclusive interview “I don't want to call it “game breaking output,” but it's something that can help players get excited.” The Statikk Shiv change could bring a lot of new mechanics and interactions to the game, which will be both fun and exciting for players to figure out.
Statikk Shiv is also gaining 45 AP and an Aether Wisp in its build path. This could potentially bring back Statikk Shiv LeBlanc and Katarina as well as many other unique builds for a multitude of different champions.
Dusk and Dawn
Dusk and Dawn was added at the start of the
2026 season, and will be changed to deal less damage and have fewer stats than it currently has on live, but also gain a heal on the spellblade proc.
This should push Dusk and Dawn into being more of a sustain item rather than raw damage because the reduction of raw damage gained from the Spellblade effect, lower base AP stats, and adding a heal change the item’s utility purpose, making it more about the sustain.
This item will be on champions like Gwen and Volibear who can utilize the Spellblade healing incredibly well by auto-attacking a lot between different abilities, maximizing the Spellblade effect and healing, and will likely become a must-buy item on most AP fighter champions and could potentially be used on the new assassins AP midlaner Riot Games have teased.
Voltaic Cyclosword
The last item change on the PBE server for patch 26.09 is Voltaic Cyclosword. This item will be fully reworked, and the current effect — which applies a 99% slow on energized attacks — will be removed and replaced with your energized attack dealing 10% to 8% current health as bonus physical damage while granting you 12 to 15 lethality for four seconds after hitting. This will likely make Voltaic Cyclosword strong on multiple assassin champions and could also potentially be built by some fighter champions who want to combo enemies super fast within the four seconds.
These item changes on PBE aim to shake up build paths and open new build strategies heading into the second season of 2026. With multiple new starting items, reworked effects, and new Omnivamp-focused boots, the meta will likely be shaken up across multiple roles. Since these changes are still on PBE, they could still be adjusted before the final release of patch 28.9.
