Weibo failed to place higher than sixth throughout 2025e
Major changes for Weibo Gaming heading into the 2026 season. Only the ever-present Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao remains in the midlane, as the rest of the roster is overhauled to usher in a new look for the team. Tang “Zika” Hua-Yu joins in the toplane, Zhao “Jiejie” Li-Jie in the jungle, Zhao “Elk” Jia-Hao as AD carry, and Shi “Erha” Xu-Ye will permanently take over the support role.
The coaching staff has also been overhauled, highlighted by the arrival of a major figure. After two years filled with titles and success at Gen.G, Kim “KIM” Jeong-soo joins Weibo as a Supervisor. The Head Coach role will be taken over by Shin “Shine” Dong-wook, formerly an assistant coach at Hanwha Life Esports. Two high-profile Korean coaches to lead this fully Chinese roster with plenty of promise.
Very high-profile signings
The signings made by WBG for next year are massive. Zika is a toplaner who will likely remind fans of LNG Esports’ strong runs at Worlds 2023 and 2024, where he was a key pillar of that lineup. In 2025, he remained with LNG in a project that looked promising on paper, but it was nothing like the previous rosters fielded by the organization.
In the jungle, the 2021 World Champion joins the team. Jiejie had a very solid individual year: his first two splits with Invictus Gaming went fairly well as he was one of the standout players, helping the team secure a third-place finish in Split 2. Despite that, iG decided to bench him, leading Jiejie to join FunPlus Phoenix to stay competitive. The team showed some improvement, but ultimately failed to break into the top tier.
What do you think of this new Weibo Gaming roster?
In the botlane, this is likely one of the biggest moves in the LPL. Elk leaves Bilibili Gaming after three years, during which he was a two-time MSI finalist, a Worlds finalist, and a three-time LPL champion. It is a major acquisition for Weibo, one that could very well allow the team to reach a new level and establish itself permanently among the league’s elite.
Finally, in the support role, it is a familiar face and the youngest player on the roster. Erha was promoted from the academy in Split 2 to replace Fu “Hang” Ming-Hang, he immediately made his mark with unconventional picks, notably a very strong Bard as well as a Sett support. In Summer, he was sent back down to the academy as the team brought in Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song.
Xiaohu, the sacred union
Weibo’s year was far from easy. A top-8 finish in Winter and top-6 placements in both Spring and Summer saw the team fighting near the top, but never managing to break through the top-four ceiling. And yet, the names were there: Chen “Breathe” Chen in the toplane, Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang in the jungle, Xiaohu in mid, and a botlane made up of Wang “Light” Guang-Yu and Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song.
From that lineup, only Xiaohu remains. Approaching 28 years old, the Little Tiger will embark on a fourth consecutive year with Weibo Gaming. A three-time MSI champion, Worlds 2023 finalist, and four-time LPL champion, he is not only the face of the team, but also one of the enduring symbols of the LPL. It is around him that Weibo will continue to build and evolve for yet another year.
