Stage 1 of the
VALORANT Champions Tour Americas has concluded, and the group stage featured major storylines in the race for the playoffs. Sentinels and Cloud9 are the biggest surprises among the eliminated teams, with SEN missing out on the top four in
Group Omega after a decisive loss to NRG in the final group match. ENVY and Evil Geniuses also failed to qualify, with EG ending the stage without a single win and multiple changes.
For Sentinels, this stage will feel like a missed opportunity. The team entered Stage 1 with a new project, but their plans were quickly disrupted by the visa situation involving Gurjiwan “Jerrwin” Gill, forcing Victor “Victor” Wong to step in as a stand-in before the split began. Even after showing signs of life, the roster never fully found the consistency needed to secure a playoff spot.
KRÜ Esports lead the race
But the most compelling storyline of the group stage belongs to KRÜ Esports. After a rocky start to the year, with visa issues keeping the team from playing with its intended lineup during Kickoff, KRÜ finally entered Stage 1 with the roster they had planned. The impact was immediate: led by
Matías “saadhak” Delipetro and Felipe
“Less” de Loyola Basso, the team topped Group Omega with four wins and only one loss.

Their rise is even more impressive because of how quickly the project found structure. KRÜ did not just qualify; they finished ahead of teams like 100 Thieves, FURIA, NRG, and Sentinels, skipping the first round in the playoffs. With their momentum and experience, they now enter the bracket as one of the most dangerous teams in the region.
Meanwhile, MIBR also made a major statement in Group Alpha. With a roster built around star power and experience, the Brazilian side finished first in its group and earned the same playoff advantage as KRÜ. Behind them, Leviatán, G2 Esports, LOUD, 100 Thieves, FURIA, and NRG all remain alive in the race for Masters London. But only three spots are available.
The playoffs will take place from May 14 to 24 in a full double-elimination bracket. All matches will be played as best-of-three series (BO3), except for the Lower Bracket Final and the Grand Final, which will be played as best-of-five series (BO5). At this stage, only the two opening Upper Bracket matchups have been confirmed: FURIA vs. Leviatán and G2 Esports vs. 100 Thieves
